Learn me on Waders

UPDATE: What prices should I be looking at right now? I've found some boot foot chest waders that are non insulated on sale for $70. And some Insulated ones for around $150.
So I need to buy a pair of waders, or atleast hip waders for hunting in the swamp next year. I've never owned a pair and looking online at em has me a bit confused.
The ones with just stocking feet and no built in boots...doesn't this defeat the purpose of having waders if you have to wear boots with em and water could enter? Maybe I'm missing something.
Also, for your viewing pleasure, some catfish porn. My biggest catch yet, a 21 lber. Caught on soap.

Before they had boot ones stocking feet were all that were available. We used to wear cheap walmart base ball cleats 2 sizes too big over them. Yes the cleats get wet but your feet are insulated in the neopreme stocking bone dry.
Nonetheless, forget stocking feet. You want the booted waders.

stay away from all the store bought brands and go look up Gator Waders on Facebook... custom made to you ...fit better, can put pockets where you want them, pick the kinda straps you want, colors you want, reinforcement at knees and elbows are where ever else you want it...they will show you all the major brands, drake, lacroose, Hodgeman, etc and will show you how there material is better and lasts longer...I bought a pair four years ago and hunt heavy....no issues at ALL yet and waders never last me two years

If you're walking through lots of mud, they're way better.

You just accept that your boots are going to get wet. The big benefits of that kind of wader:
-they conform to your leg, so there is less chance they'll get punctured because there's no air gap for a stick to puncture into
-they are significantly lighter and easier to walk in
-the boots are sized correctly to your foot (and if you do this you should get lace up boots for this, not slip on lacrosse type boots). this means that you have a lot less trouble with your boots getting suctioned off your foot when walking through sticky mud

I am sure the OB won't approve, but i borrowed a set these this past hunting season and they were the best I have ever worn. They are expensive but very nice.
If it helps any, I don't wear neoprene anymore. I stick to the soft-shell waders. It just doesn't get cold enough down here in Louisiana.

Those Banded breathable waders were all the rage in Arkansas this year.

I don't own a pair, but I would. They were comfortable.

I'd recommend 3.5mm neoprene. You should be able to find a deal right now. Check Mack's, Roger's, Cabelas, etc...

good waders...I got a pair from Bowie's and hunted hard for 6 years before I ripped the boot out on a piece of barbed wire under the water...

I mentioned this sea pickle's thread B4. About this ime of year bowies sells last years models at 50% off. Got me some Drake equaders LST (MSRP $350) for $175. I like the LST even in Louisiana becuase I can wear socks and gym shorts under and still be warm. Trudging around in the swamps might get a litte sweaty for the LST's tho.
Had em for 2 year and been thru lots of brush and thick shite and they are good as new.
