Was taught 30+ yrs ago to imagine a wagon-wheel size circle over the cup and aim for that.
My putting's never been that great but this has helped keep the 3-putts to a minimum over the years.

hear the ball go in the cup, don't see it (and hold your follow-through until that happens)

It's all about dealing with the pressure...
You gotta rise above it, you gotta harvest the good energy and block out the bad. Harvest energy, block bad. Feel the flow, feel it, it’s circular. Its like a carousel. You pay the quarter, you get on the horse, and you go up and down and around…in a circular circle with the music, the flow, all good things.

Read Unconscious Putting by Dave Stockton.

Read it.
Roll it.
Hole it.
BeaverPRO once said never stand over a putt for more than 8 seconds.
I try to follow that advice.

"Stop whining and put it in the damn hole".

1. Keep your head still
2. Longer putts, like you said in your OP, pick a circle (I do a 3ft circle) around the hole and make sure you get it in that circle. Practice that 3ft circle before your round.
I've also used a shorter stroke for anything 20ft and under. No more than 12in back and 12in through.

Is that where the golf threads go now?

Pick a spot inside of the hole (little smudge of dirt or whatever blemish there is in the cup) count to four looking at that spot, let it rip. Really lets your feel everything.. One of the best prices of advice I've gotten about golf is to pick smaller targets. Smaller the target the smaller the area of miss will be.

Slow backstroke, especially on short putts to keep from jabbing at them.

For long putts, look at it from behind the cup to ball as well as go to the lowest point of the green and check out the line of your put from there.
On short putts, don't overanalyze it. Read the line and just go for it.

I switched to left-hand low when I was 10. Looked back briefly during some putting struggles, but I'm back at it and it is so much better for me.
