I think Hornsby could work his way through the d league or overseas for a few 10-day contracts due to his defense, tenacity, and toughness.

If this team doesn't make the tournament..Jones gets one more year to prove himself with Simmons and Blakeney, then he gone. We gave him his dream shot and he's about to F it up for good if we keep losing like this.

I hope this is true

you're still at this? only ky has more talent than lsu. that's what matters in this context. yet, lsu is nowhere near them in the standings. that's been my point all along. lsu has only played like the 2nd best team in the conference for a handful of games. some of the bad mistakes are on the players but, ultimately, it's on jones.

I am more patient. Do you remember what preceded this coach?
Give it a bit more time.
1. Its unlikely this team makes the NCAA. Sure they could actually win the Sec championship. But its just as likely they are bounced from the Sec tournament before the semis.
2. They can win the NIT.

which is better, a 12 seed to face Butler and be sent home, or a lot of home games in the NIT and a tour of madison sq garden in the NIT.

Good college player, but he's what, 6'4", and if he can dunk, it's barely over the rim. Not insulting him, it's who he is. There are probably 100 Hornsby's in college, especially at the mid-major level, most who have better numbers than him, and probably half are better pure shooters.

Hornsby is shorter, and lacks the defense, tenacity and toughness of, say, Garrett Temple, and Temple had to claw hard to get a few 10-day contracts. Hornsby isn't going to shut down JJ Reddick (or NBA 2 guards).

'15 basketball(no tourney)
'14 football (5 losses, one to. A team beaten by northwestern)
'14 baseball (loss to Houston in regional when you're one of six programs that cares about baseball)

baseball doesn't belong in that comparison.

what baseball did was clearly better than football and basketball with less talent.

We have 3 players on this team that will play in the NBA. You don't have to be a deep team to be good. Look at Duke.

You are crazy. The only player on this team that may make an nba roster is Mickey but his measurables will hurt him. He is too slow for nba 3s and too small for nba 4's. No other player will make an nba roster. You have to be able to create your own shot in the nba or be a deadly spot up guard. Our back court cant create their own shot against the shitty sec basketball talent.

Youve proven you dont know shite about basketball. You still believe DMitch wouldn't get playing time in this back court. Only 1 player on this team may male an nba roster.

Is this even really a question? Losing by 30 in the first round of the NCAAT is 100x better than winning the NIT. No one gives a shite about the NIT. It's a consolation tournament. Hell, without googling do you even remember who won the NIT last year. I would imagine that 75% of college basketball fans don't.

If making the NIT is deemed as success, then it's time to blow up the program and start over again. The NIT should NEVER be considered a success to degree

Quarterman, maybe...? 6'6" as a point might get you a sniff, but as of now he lacks any real offensive game, and nothing exceptional on defense either. Might develop more, we'll se

TQ cant create his own shot nor is he a lock down defender. He isnt making an nba roster.

That's probably one more than Ole Mis, UGA and A&M combined. Yet, they (at this moment) probably have a better chance at making the NCAAT. The SEC is not a great basketball conf. LSU shouldn't need a roster full of NBA players just to finish better than .500 in league play

Oh i agree that we are more talented than our record. The poster i replied to keeps saying this year's squad is more talented than 2006 when 2006 had 1st team all sec pg (dmitch ,which he claims couldn't get off the bench this year), SEC DPOY and Freshman All american( tyrus), SEC POY and All American ( davis), and one of the best defensive guards in lsu history ( temple).

This loss was huge. Only way we get intro the big dance is an SEC tourny win or a hell of a show off. I still want to hear an explanation for the "plays" we run for inbounding the ball. It's infuriating

And lol to the people hating on Martin in the NBA, he will stay in the league for more than 2 years. Not saying he will be a star, but he has what it takes to get some checks. As for the rest....shite I don't know. Size will be a killer

We will be favored to win our next 4 games. That doesn't mean shite I realize with how inconsistent we are. But we have a shot to go 11-7 still which gets us in.

The sad part is we looked like a well oiled machine ready to blow them out the water at one point in the 2nd half. The first semblance of a run, you stop the bleeding immediately. Johnnys in game coaching is beyond frustrating to say the least.

Most underachieving team we've had since when? This has been the most frustrating season.

My gosh, some of our fans experience such intense anquish when our teams lose a game that a loss flushes every good thing that team may have done down the toilet.

It won't be the end of the world if we don't make it to the NCAA tournament. But, if we do but don't win the whole thing, I suspect that we can count on fans like the OP to get on here and decry how bad our players and coaches are.
