A guy I know just had an emergency brain surgery- question

He's an account of mine at work. Him and his dad run a company and I've done business with them for 10 years. Dude is 34 with two kids
A few hours ago the dad called me to tell me son had a seizure in bed Saturday and after rushing him to the hospital they found a tumor on his brain. Turns out it was cancerous. He said they were able to remove it but they are waiting for the results.
I was too in shock to ask any more detailed questions but what's his outlook like? I feel so bad, guy is great dude.
If they get all the cancer will be ok?

Only experience I have had with brain cancer is not good. Thoughts and prayers with the family.

Can be ok.
Same thing happened in my family and was given a max of 10 years to live. Been close to 18 years and person is cancer free. Stay positive.

So many variables that go into this. His outlook will depend on what type of cancer it was, what stage it was at, where in his brain it was, and what percentage of the tumor they were able to get.

Don't ask questions. Just tell him you are terribly sorry to hear that and that you and your family will keep them in your prayers.

My cousin's wife had this exact scenario happen last June. She's 25 with 2 kids. They found a lemon sized tumor on the front left part of her brain and the harmones from her 2nd pregnancy triggered it's rapid growth. Luckily, the seizure saved her life by bringing awareness to the situation and they were able to get it out. It was cancerous but they removed all of it. She just had a scan done not too long ago and is 100% cancer free.

brain cancer is never good... but it isnt actually a death sentence. It can be removed and not come back. It is possible, but also possible it could return, or be in other areas of his body. So many factors. As a believe i would just pray, and hope for the best. Cancer is a scary thing, but it doesnt always win

My friend had a brain tumor removed and it came back worse in her spine about ten years later

this is kind of a spinoff question- but my boss gave me approval to send something to him and the family from my company

It all depends on what type of tumor it is. Bad news is that with a sudden onset and at his age, the most common type is glioblastoma. But it's all speculation until a diagnosis is made.

She was left in a walker after her spinal surgery. I moved and we fell out of touch. So I don't know how she's doing now

As a 32 year old with 2 young kids myself this kind of stuff scares the hell out of me.
For some reason the last couple of months I have developed almost a phobia of dying and leaving my children to grow up without a father.
Hope the guy comes out alright and everything gets back to normal for him.

You know the worst possible news. The less bad news is that there are ramifications. Will probably suffer seizures if he survives, which has effects few people know about, but for the most part are tolerable.
