I haven't spent much time there, but the kitchen is open (Thurs lunch special was turtle soup), and they have a significant beer selection as well as house cured meats, prime beef and fresh fish.

Nice, will check out this week. Also on the West Mecca culinary scene theres a new joint opening in the old Bayles Landing building. The Trappy's hot sauce people (who also own the Fieldhouse, I think). Poboy/ Cajun type place. Always liked going to Bayles Landing, eating oyster poboys and drinking draft Budwieser. Hope this new joint matches up.

Yep. Everything there used to be good. The quality started going downhill toward the end. So did the waitstaff's dental hygiene.

The wine selection is less, at least for now.

Mr Balls, that's great news about the Bayles Landing space. A great evening would be for one party to book there and another hit the Cotton patio and launch fireworks at each other across the river. Helluva thought.
