Why is Haley available? After former defensive coordinator John Chavis left the Tigers to head to College Station, Haley suffered a demotion when head coach Les Miles hired noted recruiter Ed Orgeron for the position Haley occupied for so long.

However, Orangebloods is also reporting that the Oklahoma Sooners could be a contender for Haley as well. Defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery only spent two years in Norman and earned a promotion to co-defensive coordinator back in early January, but a job offer from the Green Bay Packers was too much to turn down.

Haley could be a top target for the Sooners for all the same reasons he's considered the top target for Texas -- because he has an extensive record of developing defensive line talent and an impressive history of land top prospects on the recruiting trail.

This will end up happening exactly like I thought. Id bet money they told him if he accepts a position before NSD his buyout is in place and if he leaves after, theyll waive it.

I really do feel bad for Brick. Really rooting for him and this UT gig sounds perfect for him.

Does anyone really know what went on behind the scenes? There is more to this story, you don't go from being a "great coach" to forced out and barely able to find a job.

I don't see it. Our Dline talent went down on his and chiefs watch.

He's a candidate for both Texas and Oklahoma. Not like his only option is Ball State.

I wish him the best. I want him as far away from here. Negative recruiting is a thing

MLRT: Brick Haley is heading to the University of Texas. Guessing 100K buyout was nothing to Horns.

Good for him.

Hope this doesn't affect our DT haul for '16.

So I'm guessing he had to stay in BTR for his special needs child was all a smoke screen?

The top recruiter in the country was practically begging to be a part of the LSU staff every Tuesday for a month on radio. Plus he lives an hour away.

Not much to the story.

That never made much sense to me; what did make sense, although it didn't happen, is that Chavis wanted Brick with him at a&m and Les moved ahead accordingly and hired O. When Chavis wasn't allowed to hire Brick, or Brick wanted no part of Ags, Les kept him on staff as an intern until he could find another job. This is just speculation on my part.

Brick did a good job for us and I wish him the best; I'd rather have O tho.

What ever happened to that extra coaching position that was supposed to open?

Could get a dedicated QB coach (let me dream atleast)
