List of NFL demands for draft.

SIAP. I know a lot of people get fired up about Goodell -- I normally don't care, but this is ridic. Why would Chicago take it in the rear for something that I highly doubt generates much economic activity?

The NFL Draft is relocating from New York to Chicago this year. Anyone with even a modicum of knowledge of how this league operates figured they’d hold up the new host city for gobs of cash. The Chicago Tribune uncovered some of the NFL’s demands, which included blocking off stretches of main streets for almost three weeks, free use of the 3,900-seat Auditorium Theatre venue, police escorts for draft picks and “NFL dignitaries” (whatever that means), enforcement from the City against unauthorized advertising and business activity, indoor and outdoor space for NFL parties and sponsors, “at least” $4 million of promotional signage and materials, and a league option to do the whole shebang again next year.
Because mayor Rahm Emanuel closed the tourism department and this event is being handled by a nonprofit called Choose Chicago, the Tribune was unable to verify which of these demands were agreed to, and what the total cost would be. Choose Chicago CEO Don Welsh estimated that they’d need to raise $3-4 million, and said that “[t]here will be no taxpayer money used.” This statement was echoed by a City spokeswoman, but is supremely hard to believe.

Goodell was jealous that he was still #2 for worst run pro organization behind FIFA

Why are you blaming Goodell for something that was a bid? Chicago did not have to bid on this.

Why is NFL the bad guy here? They negotiated for something and someone was dumb enough to acquiesce to their demands. Chicago could have easily said frick you and take your deflated balls elsewhere.

The NFL has become the new ESPN on this board. Everyone claims to hate them but they know exactly what they do in real time and hurries up to post it. But then in same post claims to never care.

That is the twitter generation for you. Who can be the most outraged the quickest without even doing any critical thinking? After all it is hip to be outraged the quickest. So annoying.

quit trying to be cool. I'm not impressed with your outrage.

It is a fun game pointing out dumbasses like you.

It's funny watching people get outraged by something they do themselves.

Chicago probably won't lose money on this deal. Surely, we all know that the NFL is getting some kind of payoff, probably under the table.

This doesn't seem fishy at all.

The most likely way they will recoup the money is to charge people hundreds of dollars to "volunteer" at the event. No jobs will be created from this. Everybody who works at these events is doing it for free. That's what happened in New Orleans.
But yeah, it makes sense that the city would pull police from regular duty in a city that has a murder epidemic to make sure that Roger Goodell's limo doesn't get stuck in traffic. This is Rio all over again.
