Don't need anything done right right now, but the times I have, I find BR to be a barren wasteland. You have Tim's and that's all I know of. I've tried them twice, got put on a waiting list, and 8 years later have still yet to be called back. Actually went back for the same repair a year later as if it were a new request and they had no flag that told them Id already been in and never got called.

If you are near Walker, give Jody's a try. He does great work. He is quick to get to most things, too.

I just recently discovered Music Inc of Louisiana. Didn't realize it has been in the same location in Gonzales for over 45 years. I think the guitar guy's name is Tommy. Super nice guy (not a standoffish prick like most luthiers and techs are). Took a guitar in yesterday morning to fix some pickups that were out of phase. He called me at 3 in the afternoon and it was done. Nothing against Tim's, but I would have waited three weeks if I had brought my guitar there.

Only thing is, I think Tommy goes out on tour (supposedly with big-time bands) every once in a while, so sometimes he's not available.

And not that i'm in the market, but they also had some great prices on some Vox amps in the store.

This is the first time this has ever been uttered about a Music Inc employee

I usually take my stuff to Allison's when I'm down there or Zeagler's when I'm in BR, but I generally have only very minor repairs.

I'm distantly related to Tommy, and he does tour with big acts. Most recently Madonna I think. I know he toured with Metallica a while back and then Shania Twain as well.

Really??? I've only been there two or three times now, and have only met a couple of employees, but those guys were really helpful.

I do go to Alison's to get my strings and small stuff. They're good people too. The tech there is really young and only does minor stuff I think.

As is quite common, he is also a better guitarist than most of the big names he works for. He did work on my guitars back in the 80s, really nice guy and always first quality work.

I remember going to Music Inca several times when I first started playing. The techs were total dicks. I remember one time I went in there when it was nearly empty. I asked one of the techs if he would mind showing me how to re-string my guitar correctly. I was going to pay him to string it anyways, I just wanted to watch and learn. He said, "No, we can't do that since it would cut into our business." I laughed thinking it was a funny joke, but he was serious. I took my strings, left, and never bought anything there again.

That sucks. I really can't stand dickish guitar people. And I don't know how long ago your experience was, but a few weeks ago I was in there waiting on something, looking at amps. And some lady came in asking them to restring a guitar for her, and one of the guys happily did it right then and there.
