It was to draw a play. We had absolutely NOTHING going on that possession.

And there was 6 seconds left

I knew we had nothing about 5 seconds into the possession though.

I was happy with actually using and not leaving timeouts on the board.

Then what Gray did with the ball pissed me the frick off.

And ran a play like we had 20 seconds.

And what we ran out of the timeout was an abomination. We would have gotten a better shot in the flow with TQ

The TO call was bad mostly because it should have been called about 10 second prior on that jumbled possession. Then, out of a timeout, Gray takes the ball with 5 seconds left and dribbles for 4 seconds and tries to pass to a side of the floor where there were zero bodies.

Sometimes, Jones + Gray are the perfect storm.

When the TO should have been called when we crossed midcourt.

Yea IDK Gray was doing there. I imagine he fricked up JJs call per usual and that's why he wasn't in at the end of the game.

That timeout HAS to happen right when you cross half court.

We have 3 timeouts remaining with a minute left. What the frick is he saving them for? He was going to let us play out that possession.

He's really awful. But we lost because we couldn't get enough rebounds.

The problem is that Jones has nothing out of a timeout. EVER. If there is a worse coach at designing something to get look out of a TO, I haven't seen him.

fricking this. All of fricking this. He's such an awful Xs and Os coach. It's embarassing.

I don't even have so much of a problem with calling it with five seconds when nothing was working, but for frick's sake draw something up other than "give the ball to Gray and let him figure it out." It was horrible.

That play was 95% on Jones, 5% on Gray.

CJJ goes most of the season acting like timeouts are a bad thing and then he calls one in that situation?

Regardless it was still one of his best coached games at LSU.

The timeout wasn't an issue nor was when it was called. You are working the clock, running a playset that exhaust the entire shot clock. Instead of wasting the possession you call a timeout to try to get a decent shot. Gray just has to get a shot off in that situation.
