Agreed, it's radio bar with burgers and an arcade.

This place was not worth the wait.

Service was terrible. Waitress forgot the appetizer and blamed it on the runners for not bringing it out. Took forever to get food and drinks.

Other than that the place was OK.

I'm not going to give them a break because they are new. This isn't a new place and they should be prepared. Guy there even said pitchers "are not here yet."

I went last night. Friend works behind the bar (and manages?), so that skews things a bit. Bartenders usually don't mind making their friends wait because they know we won't care.

We waited a while to place food orders because the bar was filled with people waiting to get drinks (2 bartenders working, 30+ people surrounding the bar) but once we ordered the food, it came out very quickly.

Burger was as good as ever. I got the KGB + add Pork Belly Preserves. They didn't even have to ask how I wanted it.. it came medium rare. So good.

Place was busy, but not so packed I couldn't move or anything. Probably because LSU lost.

Only gripe is the prices. Bill was $32 for 2 bottled Hopsecutioners and the burger. The burger price is fine with me, but $15 for two bottled beers that sell for $5/piece everywhere else? That's absurd.

Friend's bill was $48 for fried pickles, wings, 2-3 beers. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that fried pickles are $9.50! They are $5 next door at Chimes.

Also, the best description of the crowd would be Pint Night at Bulldog or Sunday nights at WalkOns. I avoid both of those nights at those places But it was definitely not quite at young as I thought it would be.

I'm sure I'll be back, but I doubt it will enter my regular rotation other than when I want a burger. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see Skee Ball

Oh, and I see what Milo meant.. there's no way I'd take kids at night. It's not so much that anything "bad" was going on, and the tables seemed like the way to go, but the music was blaring and people were definitely rowdy and drinking. It wasn't dangerous or lewd, but it certainly isn't a place for kids to be at night. People around me were doing shots left and right.

It's called Barcadia. Not sure why people want to bring kids to bars.

Yeah, someone else was saying the liquor is better priced in the other thread I think.

I don't mind places with a little higher price point at all. It's just when your beer is $2.50 MORE than a place like Bulldog, who isn't cheap, that's a lot.

I said the same thing. It has bar in the name. There are arcades for children elsewhere. This is specifically meant to be an arcade for adults.

But when Milo said he wouldn't be taking his kids again, lots of posters jumped in saying they take their kids to the one in New Orleans often.

I ordered the fried pickles last night and they never came out. Man was I disappointed, I love fried pickles.

Sounds like we had very different experiences there last night.

Pickles themselves were really good, as they're homemade pickles. But the ranch had an odd flavor to me. I wonder if the white truffle oil on the truffle fries is used in the ranch because I felt like I could taste that. Or I'm crazy.

Funny because when it seemed like we would never be able to place our food order, I almost suggested we ask the hostess for a table instead. Sounds like it is good that we stayed at the bar.

food prices could be a problem for them in that area

Yeah, 13$ for a burger when you are surround by Chimes, Raul's, and Five Guys may not be the best strategy.

I was more put off by the beer prices though. Draft selection was disappointing and the prices were higher than I expected.

Curbside beats all of those by a mile, bro.

Isn't it $13 for burger and fries?

My experiences with Curbside inside Barcadia in NOLA have been very underwhelming compared to the truck.

Maybe so. I didn't eat there because I looked at the price and said "frick that."

There is a mental block for me to paying that much for a burger, regardless of quality.

They can do that because their burgers are increadibly unlike what any of those places do. All of those places make entirely different styles of burgers with little crossover. Raul's has their badass shrimp burgers and chicken burgers on cheap patties with mediocre fries. 5 Guys has great fries and tons of toppings with their american cheese, mediocre beef and mid-tier prices. Barcadia offers craft burgers with high-quality ingredients at a high quality price.

That would be like saying that Galatoire's can't survive in the same neighborhood as Po'boy Express because they both serve seafood.

I think Barcadia will do fine, but I don't think it will be due to student business. Which is fine because I'd bet a large % of who was in there last night wasn't students anyway.

Everyone is different.
For me, the burger is so different from one at Rauls that it isn't even like you're comparing two burgers. I don't mind $13 for a burger and fries. I couldn't even finish more than half of the burger.

Wise: I didn't have that great of a burger in New Orleans either. The one I had last night was like the ones I used to get off the truck.
