Will be there for a few days. For years people have said to go to Superior Steakhouse up there, but I don't have much interest in the generic steakhouse thing. Any other suggestions for places to eat and drink? Can be casual or upscale. Preferably a few places with Great Raft on draft. Thanks.

If you're there on a Sunday, hit up Marilynn's Place. They have solid brunch items and you can pay $12 for unlimited cocktails.

I hit when Im there:

Bella Fresca
Chianti
Franks Pizza Neopolitan

Mabry House is awesome, for old school upscale dining.

2Johns & Village Grill are best "steak houses." Village Grill has other prime meats too. Anthonys may have the best steak, but is in a bad neighborhood and provides your atmosphere w checkered tablecloths and a salad bar. The Cub has a good steak.... but is a small dive attached to a bar. Stay away from Superior, joint to be seen - food is not "superior."

Superior Mexican or Oyster Bar for mex. Shreves Superior is "superior" to BR & NOLAS.

Folks will tell u Twisted Root... And its good for a drink, but food is horrible. They went beyond my 3 strikes ur out clause.

Try a Red River Brewing "Hay-Ryed" while ur up there

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much. Franks looks particularly legit.

I have no faith in the wine scene in Shreveport, particularly on restaurant menus there. Always been pretty weak, But the beer scene seems pretty real. That's why I mentioned it to begin with. Thanks for the heads up.

I second most of the other recommendations too

Been to oyster bar a few times and it's always pretty solid

2 Johns is my go-to for "special" dinners

I wasn't huge on Frank's at first but I know several who swear by it. It's a cool pizza place.

If you are randomly in the mood for Chinese, hit Imperial Cathay. It's an actual restraint not bullshite takeout

Rollin' In the Dough is another good lunch option- chicken salad or the burger, cooked medium.

Where are you going to be working/staying?

Giuseppie's. Ate there last week. Owner is in the back ensuring quality of the Kitchen every time.

One more, The Blind Tiger is a good lunch spot as well. Giuseppe's is a good spot for dinner.

You can't go to Shreveport and not eat at Superior Grill

Wine country is my favorite niceish to nice dinner spot

Other recs have been spot on except for oyster bar. When I moved to Shreveport I went there expecting awesome seafood and got mediocre Mexican.

The frick?

You say thatis if it's unique. There are ones in BR and NOLA.

If you want overpriced drinks and average Mexican food, sure, but there are tons of places that are far "superior"

If you cross the river into Bossier City, L'Italiano has great Italian food.

Bombay Dreams in Bossier if you are interested in Northern Indian cuisine.

Athena Greek and Lebanese Grill in Shreveport.

How does L'Italiano compare to Giusseppie's?

Similiar. Neither as good as Chianti.

Put Strawns by Centenary on your list for a plate lunch sleepin pill.

I know Cantina Laredo is a chain, but their Cerviche is a good light lunch.

Some folks dig Silver Star's? & Country Taverns BBQ.

Jacquelines is a good lunch spot for sure.

For Great Raft and bar eating, might want to consider Zocolo. Im never goin back tho... Asked them one time if they had Red River, only to be answered "We dont serve that crap, we are a Great Raft supporter." Huh? How about support all the local products. I got up and walked out. Left a sour taste n my mouth. Wine Country is their more upscale sister restaurant. Its good, too. Sucks they gotta b that way... Hope the entire ownership/staff isnt.
