Its not even the same machine now. I was thinking of buying a new laptop because my MBP was so slow. Upgraded to 8 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD and the damn thing flies now. Amazing, a $260 upgrade basically saved me about $1300.

I know :csb:

SSD

Insane how fast you can do a malware or virus scan on the SSD.

I've been using an SSD for about 2 years now. I only sell computers with SSD's for my customers. It is painful to work on a computer with a standard HDD now.

I don't think I could ever own another computer that didn't have a SSD

I upgraded my 17" 2009 MBP a couple years back and it still runs better than new. It really is unreal what a difference an SSD makes.

I popped an SSD I had into an old Vista laptop and maxed the ram to a whopping 4 gigs for $65.

It's my moms old laptop and it's actually faster than her new laptop and it's not even close. :lol

It pains me to see so many "high-end" laptops being sold with 5400 RPM hard drives today. Even the $300 low-end clunkers, which are considered disposable, could last most people several years if they spent another $100 to pop in a 250GB SSD. Storage i/o is always the bottleneck for a typical home user.
