What makes that elk so great is that is was killed on public land with a general draw tag. No special draw or anything of that nature.

Congratulations to the hunter

As an added bonus, it was only Henderson’s second elk ever taken by a crossbow—his first had been harvested in 2013 after 10 years of hunting. Henderson comes from a family of elk hunters and often visits the Shoshone area during elk season

Only 2 kills in 11/12 years? It's supposed to be easy!

Agree somewhat. It is however, Wyoming. They have quite the numbers. My buddy shot a 7x8 Roosevelt a mile from my house with a bow and it's a normal tag.

Amazing kill though. I would love just to see an animal that size from a distance.

Crossbow on spot and stalk =/= Crossbow from box stand on food plot

Still more challenging than a rifle.

I'm getting the impression he's killed more with a rifle

I saw a couple 300 class bulls in Estes Park, Co 2 years ago. They were 40 yards away. It was amazing.

There's a few herds I see in certain fields at a distance. Bulls are almost never there though.

There's an elk refuge not far from me and it's cool seeing 7 or 8 bulls walking around. Haven't seen any monsters though.
