BtS and Modest Mouse releasing albums in back to back months

Last time they released albums in the same year was 1997, with two of the best albums ever.....Perfect From Now On and Loneseome Crowded West

I was hoping they would put an album out soon! One of my favorite bands. I hope this one will be much better than There is No Enemy. I liked that album but it just didn't have the staying power of the albums before it.

Sleater-Kinney also released Dig Me Out in 1997, their first great album after adding Janet Weiss to the band.

The 90s underground is back, baby!

Perfect from now on (I think) is my favorite album of all time.

Built to spill is definitely one of my favorite indie rock bands of all time, they would be higher but the last few albums don't come close to comparing.

But what does compare is their live show. I have seen them live 9 times, and they put on an awesome live show.

Yep. I should have put "Randy Described Eternity" in that favorite song(s) of all time thread.

That being said, I haven't really enjoyed a BTS album since Keep It Like A Secret.

my favorite song of all time is Stop the Show.

I would tend to agree there was a big drop off after keep it like a secret. But the last album - there is no enemy was pretty good. and there were good songs on all of the albums, they just weren't back to back great songs like the albums mentioned here.

You in Reserve is probably my third favorite BtS record (after PFNO and KILAS). Four of the ten tracks don’t do that much for me, but I love Goin’ Against Your Mind, Traces, Liar, Wherever You Go, Conventional Wisdom and Gone. There is No Enemy was pretty good too I thought.

I would put you in reverse as number 5 - PFNO, TNWWL, KILAS and TINE in that order before it. Definitely better than ancient melody of the future and ultimate alternative wavers though.

true story - i smoked pot with doug martsch in 1991.

I'm with you on this. I actually wasn't a huge fan of You In Reverse when it came out, but I've grown to love it. It's a solid album and I wouldn't mind something of that quality for this release.

I'm hoping they play SXSW this year. Would be great to see them sneak into the lineup late and play a show are two. I saw them in 2012 at 3 or 4 different shows at SXSW. They played a different set at every show, and all of their best songs.

Here's one of the sets. It is a professional recording and one of the best sets I've seen from them. I was probably about 3 people deep from the stage. LINK

Such a good live band.

New song has been posted to youtube.

It has a pretty awesome intro. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It almost sounds like it belongs in There Is No Enemy.

Living Zoo

ETA: After a few listens, it's grown on me a lot. This album could be really great!

Of the dates posted, there's a gap between 4/20 Vegas and 5/9 Atlanta

There's a lot of room between those two dates. HOPEFULLY they'll come somewhere close!

The vocal sound is reminiscent of REM. I like it.

The album cover is strange no doubt, but I like the track.

The vinyl will be available on record store day, April 18th

This track has me much more excited about this album than what I've heard of Modest Mouse's new albums. The hiatus between both bands' last albums has been wayyyyy too long.

I was hoping the album cover is a joke.
