Starting a rotational job and will have 2 non consecutive weeks every month. I'd like to take a short trip of some kind to Mexico or Central America. Don't want to go to a resort town like Cancun or Cabo San Lucas, or any of the all inclusive resorts, but I'm open to the beach . A cool city that's easy to get to would be ideal.

What's good? Mexico City, Guadalajara, Acapulco? Anywhere in Central America?

our favorite is Ocho Cascadas, over in the residential part of Puerta Vallarta. Hire a taxi driver for the week and he can hook you up with whores, coke, weed, etc

Both Cabo and Playa are great. Cabo is a smaller town centered around the Marina. Playa is a bigger town with more people in downtown. Water is nicer in Playa.

Use VRBO or AirBnB for rooms/ apartments for rent. These websites will have room anywhere you want to go.

You can probably get as far as Panama if you have a week.

Even Southwest is now flying to Costa Rica.

Nicaragua has been called "The Next Costa Rica" which may mean its more interesting since I've been told Costa Rica can feel very "American" in some parts.

The good thing about all these locations is you aren't flipping timezones so that shouldn't be too bad besides regular fatigue.

Yeah, I don't think it will be hard, which is why these places are more feasible than Europe or Asia.

Mexico City is great, the Condessa area is really cool. It is full over great restaurants, cafes, and bars. There are some great parks and tree lined streets as well. The Reforma and Zona Rosa areas are worth checking out as well. The Palacio de Bellas Art(Fine Arts Palace) is one of the best museums I've been to.

Panama City, Panama is really cool as well. Obviously the Canal is a sight to see. The Old Quarter (Casco Viejo) is a cool place to stay, plenty of restaurants, bars, and sights in walking distance. If you have time take a short flight or ferry ride to the Peal Islands, we spent a couple days on Isla Contadora and it was great you'd have an entire beach to yourself. If that isnt enough you can hire a local boat to have them take you to a neighboring uninhabited island and you can hav it all to yourself.

Central America:

Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica: Hippie spot, if you catch my drift

Nicoya penninsula, Costa Rica: Best beaches in Central America

Bocas del Toro, Panama: Totally overrated, literally trashed (its kind of sad)

Any of the islands, Honduras: Nice, great diving, but watch out for dengue fever (I'm not kidding)

Any of the Cayes, Belize: see Honduras, only more expensive and with swankier tourists

Guatemala: Awesome, but not exactly a beach destination. Livingston will disappoint. The Pacific beaches are black sand.

El Salvador: Only surfers go here.

Nicaragua: Ditto

Mexico

Mayan Riveria: Nice accommodations but touristy as hell. Try Tulum as an alternative to Cancun. Isla de Mujeres is also pretty chill (speaking relatively, of course).

Oaxaca: Awesome, but underdeveloped. Check out Puerto Escondido or the Zipolite area.

Acapulco area: NO GO YOU WILL GET KILLED

Puerto Vallarta area: NO GO YOU WILL GET KILLED

The Cabo: See Cancun, Cabo is the California to Cancun's Florida

Very windy, stinging sand, better for surfers than swimmers. Great town, though, and lovely people. Nicaraguans are very nice, in general. The nicest, even.

Undeveloped is A Ok to me. It's only for a short trip and Id rather be cheap. Heard Oaxaca was nice. Thanks for the advice.
