Anyone have any experience doing both and if so, is it a worthy pursuit? Are there more inherent dangers of violating conflict of interest laws?

Depends on what sort of law you plan to practice. Obvi, you cannot do RE closings where you are the commissioned agent.

Can't imagine that would be a good idea.

One of the most successful newish commercial real estate brokers in New Orleans is an attorney. He keeps his license active by taking CE, however he does not really practice law anymore - just brokers deals

I always said if I lose my license for whatever reason, I'd become a RE agent.

Be damned careful about commingling and sharing profits with non-lawyers.

I'd think being a "real estate agent" as in selling residential real estate would be a waste of a JD. Real estate attorneys make a lot more. I'd at least suggest going the commercial route.

best to stay away from cunnilingus in the workplace. It can come back to bite you.

oh, I don't know what that word means.

but it's prolly not as much fun as cunnilingus.

I am sure you are smart enough to figure out if you are commiting a conflict of interest on certain deals.

I know a few realtors that are former lawyers. Glad I didn't become a lawyer.

I'd call the Ethics Office for the bar and get copies of any opinions on conflicts and sharing revenue.

And solicitations.

Technically you can if you get everyone involved to sign an acknowledgement of the situation. I would never do it, but its not illegal in this state.
(From my understanding. Im certainly not an ethics guru)
