Saving Private Ryan's adjusted gross is $379,700,700.

Seth was just peanut butter and jelly that his movie didn't even make it to theaters.

Would AS still have been shown in theaters if it was about an American sniper in North Korea?

It's so funny how insecure the liberal media became about this movie after it became a hit.

Both sides were shown to be pretty insecure over this rather average movie.

I've praised the movie, but it's no SPR.

Nation's Pride was about Fredrick Zoller (fictional character) who was a German Sniper who killed 250 soldiers over 3 days. I don't think there was any mention of his killing Jews.

thanks kosmo and brees for the info

The quietest I have ever seen a movie theatre after a movie ending.

First part of Saving Private Ryan at the time was the best portrayal of Omaha Beach on the screen

While it is making more money, is American Sniper a better movie than Saving Private Ryan?

Not even in the same league as Saving Private Ryan.

It's hard to recognize American Sniper as a "War Movie" next to Saving Private Ryan.

As an OIF veteran - it does capture the sights and sounds of our war better than most war films - alongside Blackhawk Down and Lone Survivor, these stand out for me. Zero Dark Thirty was a little distant for me because it was national intelligence assets and Tier 1 operators, primarily, although I feel that I got it - mostly.

Obviously, if you want authenticity for OEF - Restrepo is the superior film. Hurt Locker was okay, but not my cup of tea.

Well that sucks. SPR is one of my favorites period, while I thought AS sucked the fat one.

Remove Matt Damon from SPR and it would have been a lot better. The Hollywood treatment of trying to find one man to save in a war with that many casualties was a little too Hollywood. Other than that best portrayal of odds those guys faced in WWII and the brutality of it as they stormed the beach.

i dont agree. I believe that added a great deal to Tom Hanks character, and the character to the soldiers who enlisted to fight in the war. Many knew they were going to their death to help fight for the freedom of the world.

Hanks's mentality was i will follow what ever orders they give me, because I'm fighting for my family at home.

I'm curious to see how a movie this American Sniper does internationally.

I liked American Sniper...thought it was good enough (though not near as good as most make it out to be). But it's nowhere near on the same level as SPR...that's easily one of the greatest war films in history. AS isn't close to that conversation...not even a little bit.

In Inglorious Bastards, I never understood why the Russians didn't just train mortar fire on Zoller's tower, or use the canon from a tank on it.

They knew where he was and just let him shoot for 2 days?
