When will ESPN promote soccer?

I watch a lot of ESPN and very rarely does soccer get more than 10 minutes of coverage. If ESPN would market it better (basically get the rights to broadcast) it could be bigger in USin my opinion.

When they have the rights to it?

Less than they do now. NBC has the rights for a lot of stuff. Fox got the 2018 World Cup unfortunately because espn did a great job with it. BeIn also has a lot of stuff. Espn got outbid on lot of soccer stuff.

Everytime I watch Fox's coverage I get upset realizing they have the World Cup.

When they can profit off of it, they'll talk about it

I'm worried with then getting the right to the USMNT games with ESPN. We saw Fox not send commentators to Chili and announce from the studio. I know it's probably costly for a meaningless game, but it shows they are experimenting. Im afraid it will become a trend once qualifying begins.

I love that epic soccer goals that deserve to be #1 are always in the bottom 5 of the Top Ten. Bicycle kick in stoppage time to win the league? #6 sounds about right.

When Aaron Ramsey's absurd volley landed at #2 someone on r/gunners posted a bunch of videos of Arsenal goals in the top 10 and I couldn't help but laugh at the placement of some of them.

It's a shame because I think that espns euro and wc coverage is so far and away the best thing the network does. It really bums me out that for has secured the next two.

It's funny that you bring this up now. Yesterday, they randomly had a piece on Man U during Sportscenter. It was a bit sad because it felt like the soccer analyst was trying to teach the premier league to the audience like you would teach a first grader to read.
Also, I hope NBC always has the Premier League. They do an amazing job.

Yeah. The #1 play will be a dunk or an easy diving catch by a baseball player, yet pretty much any goal scored that day is a better play than either of those.

ESPN won't promote it until they can make a lot of money off of it. They don't have many rights to soccer as of right now, so they won't promote it. Same reason you rarely hear them talk about hockey.

Same here. I was watching online until I realized the extra channels carried all the games not on NBCSN. I can watch just about every PL match. I hope NBC keeps the PL.

Yeah I love it on Comcast because I can go to the OnDemand section and pull up the games that aren't on the main NBCSN channel. Works much better than streaming it on my computer.

Yes I understand when they have the rights to it, but they don't even mention soccer 90% of the time. It seems to me that the #1 sport in the world, and a sport that is growing in America, ESPN would hope on it trying to get MLS games, or start showing highlights at least.
Right now since most sports are dead you watch the Top 10 highlights and you have alley oops, golf shots, random people making a half court shot, etc.

Come on now, let's be real. Those pop outs in the 3rd inning of the Twins-Mariners games are epic and clearly deserving of #1. There's only 1000 people at the game so they need to put it on sports center to show the rest of America what we fools missed.

ESPN barely takes breaks from debating worthless topics to show NFL and NBA highlights.

What is embarrassing with espn is their actually tv quality
the USMNT home games and mls games don't even have an HD camera for the main camera

Didn't espn sign a deal with MLS this year to show more games?

Yep. And they still have Euro.
"2015-22
ESPN/ESPN2: At least 34 matches per season, including a weekly Sunday 5 pm telecast on ESPN2, a share of MLS Cup Playoff matches, MLS Cup in alternating years, MLS All-Star Game in alternating years. MLS Direct Kick will be available on ESPN3.
Fox Sports: At least 34 matches per season, including a weekly Sunday 7 pm telecast on Fox Sports 1, a share of MLS Cup Playoff matches, MLS Cup in alternating years, MLS All-Star Game in alternating years."
ESPN just doesn't have the World Cup or the EPL anymore, and that was what made their coverage tick.
