Kara Kopcso (Swimming) breaks two 17 year old Natatorium records.

This girl continues to kick butt. Soph.
Kara Kopcso also broke 17-year old LSU Natatorium records in the 100 fly and 200 IM. The sophomore finished with a career-best time of 52.91 in the 100 fly. Kopcso also finished with a time of 1:59.57 in the 200 IM.
“We set a challenge out to the women over the past few days to see if we could break some records on the board,” LSU Swimming coach Dave Geyer said. “It was a way to start off with some rhythm and it was exciting. For Kara to knock off some pretty old pool records was good movement toward the end of the season.”
She also won both the 100 and 200 Fly last week at TAM.

Think she'll leave early? I hope not.

Way too early, but I'd love to see her in Rio. Not bad for a Sophomore.

Even more amazing because she was dodging all the jizz jars floating in the pool

Fontainbleu HS swimmers are fast because their natatorium is the gator farm.

Pretty fly for a white Kopsco.

With the new rules regarding first year pros, she would be stupid to stay any longer and risk injury. She gone.

i sincerely hope that her events were in the first half of the meet so at least a few LSU fans got to witness it.
I know her well. Great kid that works her arse off.

Kara had great swims. She is a hard worker and a huge asset to our LSU Swim Team. Those times would put her in 28th and 44th in National rankings based on last years NCAA Championship Results. Great swims Kara!!
The big picture is that almost every school has swimmers that break pool records every year. Something that our current group of no name swim coaches have parlayed for years to give the illusion that our swim program is moving forward. The fact is, under Coach Geyer, our Tigers have gone down in the National Rankings every year since he took over as head coach 5 years ago. 38th in the NCAA and second to last in the SEC. This year the LSU Swimming Tigers have lost to Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida and Texas A&M in head to head duel meets. Geyer is leading us to no where. If this were the football or baseball rankings he would have been run out of town a long time ago. Mr Alleva, the Swim Program needs your help.
LSU Swimming is lucky to have Kara grace our pool deck, she has given the swim program the DESPERATE shot in the arm it has needed for years.

Kara is a phenomenal swimmer, but unfortunately for swimming, the regular season is pretty much completely pointless. Not only do wins and losses and results mean next to nothing, but in swimming, you really only have 1 or 2 chances to swim your absolute fastest -- because it's almost impossible to do so without a full rest cycle and a racing suit. That said, Kara absolutely has the potential to make some serious noise come SECs and NCAAs and I really hope she does.
I'll also point out that anyone who is dismayed with the team results shouldn't take them as an indication that LSU swimming is no good. Here's why: First off, A&M's women (separate program from their men, unlike LSU) are a perennial top 5 team. With the way swimming works, the 20th ranked team in the country, even if it had the meet of its life, will VERY rarely give the 5th ranked team a run for its money. Next -- with regards to the men -- like I said, without rest, a swimmer isn't going to sniff the results they're capable of. And different teams and different coaches have different philosophies on just how much rest a swimmer should have before a dual meet. The LSU staff is stoutly against ANY rest before a regular season meet. On the other hand, A&M virtually ALWAYS swims poorly all year up until the LSU meet, when they always seem to have had a bit of rest. Looking at this year's results confirms this -- I doubt if you'll see many of those A&M kids swim much faster than that at SECs or NCAAs. LSU is a far different story.
And I'm pretty sure you'd be hard-up to find a swimmer who was on the team in 2013 that wouldn't agree with the Fire Alleva sentiment. I could go on for days about the bullshite he and Miriam Segar pulled, but that's another story for another day. Geaux Kara.

Given LSU probably has the worst natatorium in major college swimming, the coaches have done a solid job
I'd still support dropping the program for something like men's soccer or lacrosse. LSU has a much higher ceiling in men's soccer than swimming
