Good luck to you fellas planning to go back to work. It seems like the right call to make with this dispute.

It's a no brainer. I've waited two weeks and I'm tired of the foolish games.

It's certainly an unfortunate situation. I just cannot do it. Sure to offend some but that's the way it's going to go.

If they don't like it, screw them. If they were really about what's best for you. Yall never would have had to strike

Enlighten me, when you get hired on for one of these positions are you obligated to join the Union? If you go cross, are you still a union member or do they kick you out? Are you still obligated to pay the union?

Hiring on doesn't require the union.

Crossing doesn't change that.

Never required to pay the union, but still represented by the union.

So why are the people in this thread saying they are going to work at a non-Union plant? If they don't want to participate, don't and continue working.

Not participating doesn't mean you get to keep working.

Most people in this thread will say that the union is the reason for high pay, but will also say there is no need for a union. Other people will take the benefits of the union, but won't give when it comes time.

Personally, I understand the reasons most have for crossing the picket line, but I don't think it is some heroic action.

With oil at less than half the price at July of last year, this may be the most ill-timed strike of all time.

Seems like the perfect time for a refinery strike.

If oil was at $115/bbl and gas at $4-$5/gal those oil execs would be sweating bullets. At $50/bbl and $2.00/gal, not so much.

"The fact of the matter is we are running out of storage capacity in the U.S.," Ed Morse, head of commodities research at Citibank, said at a recent symposium at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

Morse has suggested oil could fall all the way to $20 a barrel from the current $50. At that rock-bottom price, oil companies, faced with mounting losses, would stop pumping oil until the glut eased. Gasoline prices would fall along with crude, though lower refinery production, because of seasonal factors and unexpected outages, could prevent a sharp decline.

Are you serious? Only in bizarro world do profit margins increase when sales price decreases. I believe 4% profit is the standard margin reported on most oil companies balance sheets. In any case 4% (or any number you use) of $5 is greater than $2.00.

Not when the main ingredient tastes a drastic price hit.....
