You should know. You are well informed on the doings of USW

I didn't know of a site, that was striking due at the command of national, that got to vote on it. Local contract issues are different.

Can you blame them? im guessing people weighed their options and being back at work was more important.

Wrong again. You are constantly in this thread speaking like you have some kind of real knowledge and are consistently wrong.

My bad, I assumed they walked out on Jan 31st so it didn't carry over to Feb 1st.

Same as last week.

Union striking for unrealistic demands, company offering typical contract.

Regular workers on both sides caught in a situation they don't want to be in.

Good for workers, they should decertify.

Wouldn't be surprised for a petition to circulate once there are enough crossing.

Personally, I'd de-certify and then if people still feel a union is their best option form a local, unique to that plant group. 9/10 things can be worked out on a local level where every one gives a little and everyone gets something back

Exxonmobil in Baton Rouge told Beavers to shove it three years ago, that's why they are out of the national bargaining. Beavers was going to put us out on strike over trying to get a union represented safety position. The company had offered a spot for years and the union played games and never sent anyone to the safety meetings. Then they wanted a do nothing job created after they had been telling the company to F off for almost three years. We had a meeting with beavers and he realized we were going to decertify if he put us on the street over that garbage. The company was giving everything else we asked for and not taking anything away. USW was basically trying to use the site as a pawn in their push to gain power.
I am so happy to no longer be a represented employee and have to worry with this every three years.

You would think these idiots would know when and when not to strike.

..with oil prices being low, they won't get shite for concessions.

How ExxonMobil BR is still represented by USW is baffling to me. They must not have a way of changing the representation or something. I was told they came very close to decertification.

I wouldn't mind this happening at my site.

Are you saying you are no longer at a union site, or you are still at a union site but are no longer a union member?

There was a lot of talk about it three years ago, but we never got close because we forced a vote of the membership out of USW. Gary Beavers threatened he would pull us off the pattern with the rest of the sites if we did, and it has been nothing but a win, win for us so far.

Once wage earners earn and or accept a permanent supervisor position, they are no longer represented by the union. They are salaried employees at a union site
