Meat has the impression that management turns the plants productivity and safety over to newbies without training them and hopes for the best

I was at Sterlington Plant 10 min after the explosion years back. approx 150 people came in my hospital. That plant wasn't very safe.

When I said that other operators/craftsman train one another, I meant that we have specific people who are are qualified and are very knowledgable on all that entails a particular unit/units. Those are the guys who train us. Management has no part in teaching/training us on any job specific material.

So youre saying management pays experts to allot a particular amount of time to give 1:1 training and mentorship.

43 years old, minus 27 yrs in industry = started working at 16 in plants?

Yes but I see your angle. If you mean "management" as you are implying then everyone is under the thumb of "management". But any who, everyone goes to make a buck, union or non-union. We all want to improve our lifestyles and sometimes the unions help with that.

I thought these places were dangerous. Literally putting their lives on the line to make plastic cups yet safe enough for kids.

My point was management supports training and spends lots of money on training programs.
I wouldnt want the plant manager training an apprentice on how to line up valves at an alky unit.

I believe unions had a purpose. They succeeded and now need to adapt to still have value. They need to start self policing their members sfety and productivity. Instead, they use good working people as pawns to fill their pockets and fund their agenda

I started working in the offices offsite for a contractor. A kid as young as 13 can work in Texas with parents permission .

Make you feel better to keep harping on his/her punctuation since it seems that he/she is more successful than you?

I seem to be the only person you seem to attack on punctuation . Excuse me for using my iPhone to type with one hand and feed a 4 month old in my other arm. Do you have anything else you care to ask about my background or personal life ? If not get back to the subject at hand.
