He has 4 titles under 25 years old. One of those being a WGC. To say he may get to 1 is not playing the odds at all

If today's players had to step back into the parameters of Jack's prime (60's and 70's), I'm not convinced they would amount to much, as a group.

Based on what, exactly? Differences in equipment? I don't see that playing as much of a role as you seem to think it does.

Courses have been redesigned because players are longer off the tee now. If you were to use anything as a knock against Tiger, it could be that his most dominant stretch was prior to other golfers using weight programs, on shorter courses.

But I see no reason that the pinnacle golfers of today couldn't be just as successful using old equipment on shorter courses.

There is zero reason to believe they would be. No clue why he thinks that

The record is safe. Tiger was the only one with a shot at it.

Rory will beat it.

McIlroy won't sniff Jack's record.

A more realistic goal for McIlroy is beating Gary Player's 9 majors, which would make him the greatest foreign golfer of all-time.

I haven't seen anything from Tiger to think that he's gonna be able to regain his former glory.

Technically, Americans are the foreigners, when it comes to golf.

There were the same amount when Jack played... He just was that much better than everybody else in his era.........

No way, peej. No fricking way. Jack was awesome, but there are 120 players capable of winning any given week now. There were nowhere close to that amount back in Jack's era.

Not bad for this time of year. I've been a little absent from the golf thread. About time I made a return.

How about you? Still hitting 913 nitro bombs?

Does the 120 include TW?

The record will definitely be broken someday. It might not be in our lifetimes, but it will be broken. There are other tougher records which were thought to be unbreakable and those were ultimately broken.

It definitely won't be broken in my lifetime unless TW finds his game or Rory gets on a streak of winning one or more per season.

Name one greater than 18 golf majors. Only two other players in history have more than 10.

I think 120 is a bit high. How many do you think are capable of winning any given week?

Tiger is a damned basket case. He cannot putt when it matters. His driver was always hit and miss bug he could make it up his short game.

Jack is safe.

He needs to get rid of this engineer "swing" coach and if Butch won't take him back, go back to digging it out of the dirt. His short game is laughable. Went from being the best to chipping & pitching like an 18 handicapper.
