If you do decide to move it yourself and put it in the back of a truck, please tie it down or use a large ratchet strap so when you turn on Common St., in Lake Charles it doesn't roll over the side of the truck bed and slide upside down and hit a car parked at the red light. The lady in the car will be mad and your grandmother-in-law, and mother-in-law, and wife who all learned to play the piano on that piano will be mad at you and will bring it up at family events and get togethers as well as later piano recitals your children participate in. My father-in-law learned this lesson the hard way before I was in the picture.

Always hire someone to move a piano or modern pinball machine.

Had a job delivering pianos while in college. Pain in the arse, sometimes. Especially the ones that had to go upstairs. There was this one woman who made it worth it, though.

yep. it was an awful, awful experience and will never do it again. ?

This, we moved a piano from Nebraska to Louisiana a while back. Never ever again. It was an old family piano, real old, got stuck in some rain storms on the way home. Piano was put together using a water solvable glue. Luckily, it survived, it nneeded to be refinished anyway.

Still at my mom's house looking/working good as new.

Leave it to the pros with the right equipment.

i moved an antique upright grand twice.

sucked both times. need 4-5 people and prepare to drive the moving van up into the yard with a piece of plywood over the stairs if your house isn't flush to the ground.

funny this came up as i just sold it today

not moving it again.

With furniture dollies and no stairs, its not a problem at all for two males.

I have moved several times with a piano. With stairs, always got movers. Without stairs and 2 furniture dollies, only needed 2 people, but was much easier with 3.
