check the sections. looks like they want to add paths on the new dredged areas by droppings down at some points.

the "primary multi-use path" in the first photo appears to be an elevated walkway of some sort along the periphery of the lake.. at least in a lot of places. Notice where it is in relation to the green existing sidewalk line on sorority row..

ETA: Looks like it goes behind the fraternity houses and churches near the lakeshore/dalrymple intersection.

I'm not seeing extra pathing that takes people off the streets. If that's not part of the plan...

The paths will be made much wider because of the dredged material. And they will be separating a lot of the bike lane from the walk/run path, which will be good for everyone.

I saw that some people want to turn Stanford into 3 lanes?? That sounds great.

wealthy residents around the lake

I live very close to the lakes. Most residents are supportive, if not excited, about the potential changes. That said, some older ones are against it because they don't want the mess in the waning years of their life and others are more concerned about the ecology than anything else. Overall, most want to see something done because it is obvious the lakes are dying (fish kills, etc.).

The one thing I just can't understand is that they want to invest the time/money to upgrade the lakes (piling the dredged material on the sides making the lakes smaller) and ignore the huge eyesore that is Corporation canal off W. Lakeshore. Why would they leave a huge eyesore connected to the lakes? IMO, they should install large culverts, dump the fill material here, and make this the family park area. It seems an obvious decision to me.

It always kills me to see the decked out road bikers trying to speed around the lakes on shitty uneven pavement

That probably won't matter as much as you think it will. Will most likely have the same effect as the changes to be implemented on Government Street, and will force people to slow down.

I like this... hopefully it comes to fruition, but by then I most likely won't be living right by the lakes the enjoy it.

looks great on paper, hopefully it comes to life. The lakes are constantly used so this will be money well spent as others have said
