If you're experimenting, you might want to play with the Drago's recipe.

I've never had a jacked up version. Does that one have a lot of butter and garlic with the cheese?

And I'll say again, Reno's in Sorrento has the best sacks of oysters around Baton Rouge, for the best price.
How much? You know if they do half sacks? A sack is a lot of oysters for 3 people.

They have boat sacks - 90-100 lbs for $65.
The 1/2 sacks are really 32 lbs for $45. The big sacks are a deal. They're big, dirty on the outside, clusters of the saltiest I've had. A restaurant wouldnt want them, but those are perfect for the backyard or camp shucking. Wash em before you ice em and eat on them for a week.
And Gris, I did my jacked up oysters the same way as chargrilled, with butter and garlic. When they were almost ready, I added a jalapeno slice, some real bacon bits, and pepperjack cheese (this time I used mexi cause I was out of pepperjack.)

Leave it up to the Board to tell people what they should and shouldn't like or eat.
If he liked them, then
im not gonna spend time and money on oysters, and then not do it right.
how do you plan on chargrilling oysters and hope you have pepperjack cheese at home? and if you dont, you use mexicheese. Sorry that deserves ridicule

its his oysters, his cheese. you didnt spend any time or money on it.
microwave rouxs and reverse sears deserve ridicule

Surprised to see you with this stance, but I 100% agree with you.
If oysters were cheap "regular" food, it wouldn't be a big deal. Same stance I have on $45+ restaurant steaks well done.

You're usually fighting on the other side of the fence, I feel like

not sure why you think i have an agenda. Not everything is black and white

What? Talk about putting some major words in my mouth. I thought you were generally anti-"snob", so I figured you'd be taking up for the OP. I don't think you "have an agenda"... whatever you even meant by that, turd.
Feel like I've seen you defend people when others bash their food. I might be wrong. Not that big of a deal.

like I said, you think i have agenda. i dont.
i agree its not a big deal, but you're the one that prefaced your agreement with me by saying "im surprised you are taking that stance". When you could have just said, "yea, i agree with you".

Oh whatever I was expressing that I was pleasantly surprised you felt that way.
Having an idea of someone's personality =/= thinking they are doing it purposely as some agenda.
I'd be surprised if R2R said "Leave OP alone, guys!". Not because I think he has some agenda to purposely be a dick on here.. but because it doesn't fit his personality to side with crap food.

There's your problem right there. Who are you to say what is right when it comes to people's taste?
He tried the cheese blend and he liked it. End of story. As another poster said, that blend is very mild tasting, and very possibly a better alternative to pepperjack or any number of cheeses that others consider 'right' for those oysters. And, only some of them had the cheese anyway.
People being snobbish about food deserve ridicule.

The difference between "Mexi-cheese" and "Pepperjack" is just the pepper part, right? Neither sound super appetizing. I'm not saying I wouldn't eat oysters with that cheese on it, but I'd prefer a dry cheese, like someone else mentioned. The Drago's recipe is awesome, and very easy.
