Why didn't we rest Jimmy Graham when injured?

If he doesn't need surgery and is getting healthier, why didn't we sit him when the injury occurred
I appreciate that he is willing to play through injuries, but Sean Payton and our medical staff need to look at the entire season and not just each individual game.
Calvin Johnson sat out until he was 100%. A 100% Jimmy Graham for 8-10 games > an injured Jimmy Graham for the other 6

So something that he "can" play through and help the team.
He can still be healing even though he's playing through it.
May take longer than the length of season to really heal anyways.
He puts his body on the line for the team and is only harassed 2 years in a row for it.

I completely agree.

Right, but he got to a point where he couldn't extend his arm over his head.

Ginger said he wasn't soft and wanted to prove saints talk wrong.

And, even if he is going to insist on playing in the game; why put him out there when the game is basically decided.

He was tired of being labeled as soft by Saints talk

Because he wasn't hurt badly enough. Players play through dings all the time but Jimmy seems to be the one who wants to use them as an excuse for his poor play.

Neither was Calvin Johnson.
And he was hurt pretty badly but played through it

We were playing for a playoff spot and we pass to him more than other people.

If every hurt player sat, no one would have a complete starting roster.

When you have a 11 million dollar tight end and zero WR's to complement it you use that TE to drag coverage his way.

Difference is, he wasn't just hurt, he was injured. There is a difference.
IMO, there's no way he was a better play than Watson or Hill given how obviously injured he was.
Wasn't even an effective decoy.
I wonder if resting him for a few weeks would have provided a somewhat healed Jimmy for a shot a the playoffs at the end of the year, but it probably was a wash either way.

About two to three people perhaps know the answer. Jimmy and the doctors.
People here?
Not so much.

And the coaches, his physical therapist, and the people who did the tests.
I've talked to people in various roles with the Saints about it, who were in the know, and they said the injury was serious. They also said the pain was severe with it and were surprised he was playing at all. That is the problem I have with the Jimmy Graham pussy BS.
The people I talked to were also surprised that he didn't need surgery though.

Pittsburgh says you're wrong.

Ahhh, don't forget that players around the league have started calling him soft too...

Graham got paid and got soft period. Anyone that says different is purely a homer. The guy has alligator arms and has been taken out of entire games by teams willing to be physical with him. Look back at the Seattle playoff game vs what gronk did last night and you'll quickly realize graham isn't anything more than a over paid over hyped gimmick that needs to take a pay cut.
