Their proposal for the lakefront, dubbed Tipitina's Festival Park, would include:
An outdoor amphitheater with a 5,000 capacity.
A lazy river and splash park.
Water slides and zip lines.
A two-story, covered boardwalk with shops. The conversion of the old riverboat terminal into an open-air market.

how cool would that be?
the riverside amphitheater at the world's fair was awesome, i saw neil young there during the fair.

They can leave out the amusement park stuff and make the amphitheater bigger.

Including that would ensure that the area would become some deserted, overgrown wasteland in a few years..

no...including that would ensure that the development would get used every day, not just when theres a show at the amphitheater. if the cost of getting something like this built is a water slide, i'm all in. otherwise, no amphitheater

The problem is that you'll have the undesirables taking over the water park and no one will want to go to the amphitheater due to safety concerns.

so if a band you like books a nite there you won't go because you're scared of the water sliders?

The amphitheater is the only park of the proposal with some potential. The rest will fail.

The Wharf is a totally different concept. The water park was never intended to an attraction for people other than condo owners and weekend renters.

I'm talking about the parts of The Wharf that exist.

That's strange. I've been to it 5 times in the last 3 years!!!!! It's not much of a water park, but there's one there.

Oh I thought you were referring to the mini Seaworld facility. My bad

Still, I think it would be best to just go with the Ampitheater. A water park is asking for trash

You're really comparing The Wharf (middle of nowhere bumfrick Alabama) to a place on the lakefront in a 1mil + metropolitan area? The gump delusion is strong in this one.

It's an illustration.

People go to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach to go to the beach. They don't go there to go 10 minutes inland to check out some shops in the middle of nowhere. Putting shops, amusement parks, etc. on the lakefront of NOLA =/= putting them on the Foley Beach Express.
