I like Ernie Pyle. Don't know if that's the kind of thing you're looking for.

Ghosts of Pearl Harbor (great account life on the islands before and after dec7th, and of Japan's prep, attack, & after....awesome read)

Himmler (frightening look into the mind of a maniac, the SS, and nazi influence at its worst)

I'll post more when I can remember them. I've been known to read with a good buzz

Also check out In Harm's Way, about the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis. Those men spending all that time in the water like that. Alternately awe inspiring and horrific.

Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland

Had to read these for a History of the Holocaust class I took in college. Ordinary Men is pretty hard to read. It's VERY graphic. The argument made is that the German people weren't some monstrous people and that "ordinary men" anywhere in the world are capable of doing horrible things if put in the right circumstances.

Unbroken

don't let the movie turn you off. There was so much more to the book it could've easily been made into a mini series like BoB.

Brothers, Rivals, Victors -Jonathan Jordan. Great book talks about the "Big 3" Eisenhower, Bradley, and Patton.

Helmet For My Pillow -Robert Leckie

Neptune's Inferno

Bedford Boys

30 Seconds Over Tokyo

Flags of our Fathers

Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich

Easy Co. -Don Malarky

There's so many good WWII books out there. Just gotta dig a little.
