I haven't been dove hunting in several years and have had the itch to go the last couple of years. I'm going to get a new shotgun in the next couple of weeks because I enjoy skeet shooting and I'm going to want to bird hunt with it this year too.

My thing is, I don't like to go hunting just to kill unless it's for population control. However, I don't really eat dove or pheasant.
Do you guys eat all your kill, or find someone to give it to? What do you do with it?

I eat it all. In fact, I'll send my addy and pay for shipping for any and all meat you do not want.

It's been probably 15 years since the last time I had dove and I don't remember what it tasted like. Maybe this year I'll cook some up. For me, I always viewed it as a lot of work for the little bit of meat you get.

We just breast them out, it doesn't take long. If you're going to go and shoot a few, you owe it to yourself to eat a few... they are fantastic. Never had Pheasant, but I would imagine it's pretty good too.

I love dove and I have some frozen right now.
Probably going to make a potpie out of them soon.

With that said, wild quail is the best table fare by far.

I need to try some new quail recipes aside from stuffing/wrapping them and throwing on the grill. I still have about 60 left in the pen, and was thinking of culling a few here soon

honestly, you will have no trouble finding someone to give doves to...I see people cooking them at early-season tailgates for football games...
