Think I may be taking the family just to go or hunt some exotics 2 weekends from now.

It was a blast just being out there man. Growing up hunting in the swamps of south Louisiana makes you really appreciate the terrain/wildlife south and west Texas has to offer. My son was flipping out over the Road Runners!!

I've been going up there for 9 seasons and have never seen a road runner. I have seen scorpions, tarantulas, jack rabbits, yotes, bobcats, bison, elk, and stag, but never a road runner. Awesome stuff. I have never taken the family so I am excited for my boys to get to check it all out.

ETA: When are we doing that lunch we planned last year?

I've taken my son to Carrizo Springs and Uvalde dove hunting over the past 2 years, but never the wife and never him deer hunting. The wife gripes that I never take her on my hunting and fishing trips, so I figure this should buy me some freedom for the next few years .

I grabbed a piece of firewood and a scorpion fell out of it. First time I had ever seen one. So we put him in a jar for my son to harass for a while. I would probably leave if I saw a Tarantula....

Scorpions always in the firewood pile. I mean always. And we have had tarantulas climbing the outside of the cabin before. Freaky crap for sure.

I've never seen a deer with such deformed hooves. Glad you out him out of misery. Do you have a full body picture of him?

I'm working on getting one cropped out of the GoPro video. Will post later.

We were so focused on the elf hooves we forgot to get a good pic of it.

Mrs Cove did that quite a few years ago. I picked a weekend when the low Sat morning was 11 degrees and took her to the stand. It only took about 40 minutes and I've never had to put up with her asking me to go again.

Glad y'all had a good time/good hunts.

paid hunt

Family has been hunting the place for 9 years. We have our own bow stands out and show-up to help some weekends instead of hunt. My uncle uses them exclusively for all of his clients. They give us great rates and were kinda part of the "gang". The owners bought it 10 years ago and had never deer hunted, so we act as Coonass Consultants on things...

We cook our own food and cleanup behind ourselves when we stay in the ranch house. We even cook for other guest when we are there, a little Cajun cuisine.
