One thing the auction as dome, according to waiters, is change the dynamic. Used to be on those big days, folks would hold a table, run a tab and make the turn. Waiters would make a killing. Now because price of admission has gone up, folks spend less on lunch and dinner.
Again this is hearsay. But i do know if you go around 3 or so, there will probably be a table ready

Going rate for waiting in line is $10/head on a normal Friday.
