Is this legal in Louisiana? I know someone who has some penned up and has been feeding them - one for almost a year.

Can't move them. But I know people that do it. Catch em, cut the boars, sweeten them up, slaughter.

I think so. If not, my family has been breaking the law for a long time now. My grandpa always had hog traps set. He had getting them into his pen down to a science. Had a trap that was built to the same height as his trailer, so you could just back into it and the hog couldn't get out. Then his pen had a ramp built into it the same height as the trailer, also, so just lift the gate on the trailer and the hog runs into the pen.

That's an interesting idea, I can't find any literature on it with a few quick searches. My instincts say no only because of the chance the hog were to escape (this is how nutria and feral hog problems began in our region.)

Like Rumbeard said, I know for sure that transporting live hogs from one area to another is illegal. I'm going to ask this to our wildlife biologist tomorrow, its probably a gray area in the rule book

If you pen them don't do it very long or they just turn into fat.

If you're gonna raise hogs just get blooded meat hogs, much better meat.

Escape? These would have been trapped at the location, no?

I don't know what blooded meat is but wild hog is WAY better than domestic and especially show pigs.

To the OP, sure you can but feeding corn to a wild hog defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Then it's not a "wild" hog and tastes different.

Well, the wild ones tend to be lean. I would not mind a little of the fattening.

As others have said you can pen them up no problem.

You problems begin when moving them live. That is a major no no.

Ideally yes, but OP used the word "pen" which I took to mean a separate setup from where the hog was caught. If you were willing to sacrifice the trap though I would have to imagine that would be the most secure way to keep a hog for an extended amount of time.

I guess we've been lucky. The few I've come across were all fat. Show hogs, now there's some leanness- to a fault.

I assume you meant "breed." Hogs may differ from wild to domestic but not from breed to breed. If that was true you'd see it packaged so and there'd be a premium price.
