My god, this game looks glorious

Even if this game turns out to be not really my style, part of me wants to buy it just to support the developer and the way they operate. I've pirated enough Ubisoft games to offset the $60.

Yeah, they are good people and do things the right way.
It's times like this I wish I had a super rig like yours, because this game will awe-inspiring , graphically.
I may even watch cut scenes (doubtful).
Honestly I made my remark about cut scenes earlier itt, and yeah its true, but I think I actually watched most of witcher 2s scenes because the main Character was so compelling.
Witcher 2 was the perfect combo of graphics, story, and combat mechanics. My only gripe was that it was a bit short and the world was smallish.
However it seems witcher3's world is going to be massive... bigger than skyrim.
If you enjoyed skyrim, no reason you wouldn't enjoy witcher 3. The barrier to entry/learning curve is not that steep

They do it right, all DLC will be free. I just built a $2K machine in anticipation of this game.

I hope the game is good. I thought the gameplay in Witcher 2 was terrible. Perfect example of how a mediocre game gets praised by the PC community based on graphics alone.
Don't know much about the story as I didn't play it long enough to get hooked on it, but the gameworld reminds me a lot of Game of Thrones in that it sometimes tries way too hard to feel dark and gritty.

I played W2 after I played Skyrim, I loved W2 gameplay. Maybe it's just not your cup of tea.

Skyrim is the perfect example of a game that just throws all this content at you and says, "go get it!" But the core gameplay is so simple and intuitive that anyone can pick up and play it.
Witcher 2 is an utter mess in that department. Very little in the game is explained well, making the convoluted mechanics and confusing controls all the more frustrating.

Far better gameplay
I'm gonna get it to find out. Looking forward to it

Skryim game play was a little to simplistic for me (I have almost 300 hours in it.) I don't mind a little learning curve for a game that the play and story are that good. I agree that the controls are not easy to learn but it doesn't take that long to learn them once you are playing. I posted a link earlier where the guy that played for four hours said the combat was done well comparing it to previous games.

I just read your link.
Everything sounds great.
at witcher 2s tutorial description. So true.
the mechanic of cities flourishing or floundering based on your decisions sounds interesting. Along with things not being so black&white

The environments, characters, town folk, quest style and dialogue in witcher 2 were the best I've seen in a game. The only complaint I have is the alchemy thing. You never knew when you should stop and drink a potion to prepare, but they say its the most powerful build in the game.

I couldn't really find the translation on the western sites so here it is, news from the first hand. Here is the link to the interview in polish language https://www.gry-online.pl/S018.asp?ID=1132 and below I'll try to include short summary:
Currently there are 230 people working on The Witcher 3
Prologue and tutorial aimed for casual players will be skippable
Having recommended specs will allow for playing in 30 frames per second.
PC specs aren't exaggerated, although the team is still working on the optimization
PC players will be able to import saved state from previous game OR decide themself about their character's past. Consoles will stick with just the second option
PC, PS4 and Xbox One use the same build, textures and models. Game will look almost identical on all platforms, although Xbox's version will be showed in 900p, scaled up to 1080p.
The probably most controversial part about FPS straight from the interview:
Translation:
PC recommended specs will be able to run the game on 30 or 60 frames per second?
I think, we'll stick with 30 FPS. We're not going to stop working on performance until the very end, it's crucial matter to us, there are different PCs with different specs. Programmers insisted on avoiding tricking the players by lowering predicted specs. As I mentioned before, It can only get better.
Pardon me for any mistakes, fellow poles, feel free to bash me and suggest some fixes. And don't kill the courier please
LINK
This is the first I have heard of being able to import your save from "previous game", does that mean a previous play through or from W2?

Apparently there is a big fuss about a graphical downgrade going on. I hate the internet sometimes.

Agree, as long as the game look great and runs smooth which I have confidence it will I don't have a problem. Some people would find something to complain about if an OT 10 dropped in their lap.

People are also judging by a highly compressed youtube video. I get that Watch Dogs came out very different but the Witcher won't be that drastic of a change.

The Witcher will actually be good, everything Ubi touches turns to shite. Even Far Cry isn't for me.
Posted on 1/29/15 at 11:04 am to GalvoAg
I couldn't get into Far Cry. It has too much Ubi shite for me. Climb towers, unlock the area, do a bunch of useless shite... Their formula has worn on me.
