ive asked this before, but is this game going to be similar to Skyrim?

Very similar, open world and a lot of side quests. W3 will be better on main story line, choices have lasting effects even on side quests, better combat, and most important naked chicks.

better combat

Definitely harder combat than Skyrim. I've only played the tutorial but it requires a whole lot more than the average RPG button mash.

I feel like Witcher 3 is probably going to make combat more accessible for mainstream/casual players. The combat patch for Witcher 2 improved things.

Is it a mod or a patch that should already be ready to go?

It's considered a mod, but developed by someone at CD projekt red, but it's not something that's automatically part of any game updates as far as I know.

It needed a FOV slider bad. It's the only game that actually gave me a headache

I trust none of those people to give a real review of the game

Yeah, but my 980s are better than a 295X2, and a titan X. But vram will be the problem. Titan X could handle it. 295x2 is still crippled to 4GB, as are my cards. So I'm wondering if a workable tradeoff would be to reduce texture size in favor of higher rendering resolution to cut down on aliasing without the 4GB of vram choking.

No Man's Land features 25 smaller towns, some of which are the size of Flotsam from The Witcher 2.
The game features two really big cities: Novigrad and Oxenfurt, both very lively.
passages with Ciri are like a linear action-adventure, not like a RPG, plays differently and more action-fueled than Geralt's passages (no inventory, no skill tree, depending on the scene Ciri has certain skills)
Ciri sequences will be (in total) 5-10h
Many small details such as Roach stopping to eat apples from a basket
All equipped items are visible in-game on Geralt
best items in game must be crafted
mutagens can be very powerful, like 40% damage enhancer for signs
fist fighting is without QTEs now, it's just like normal fighting with hard and fast strikes and such
there are horseraces similar to RDR, biggest focus on stamina management during races, you can even buy better saddles for horseraces
Geralts beard will grow. You have to go to a barber after a few days
The HUD is fully customizable. Icons and quest markers on the map can also be deactivated. Audiovisual hints (e.g. people screaming for help) will be present if you wish to do so.
Fluid gameplay on 1080p with everything on maximum +nvidia hairworks on GTX 980
game loading time is extremely short on the high-end PC
Ultra settings are impressive, especially the rich vegetation and character models; there can be scenes where difference between high and ultra won't be that noticeable; lighting is impressive: for instance evening light falling on vast flower fields of a parfum-maker
there was indeed no slider or adjustment option for the draw distance/LOD
They encountered very few bugs, no crashes of freezes.

Makes me wonder how much the free DLC will be worth, probably cosmetic stuff. I feel kind of mislead with the "free DLC" comment now.

they are certainly careful with their words. This is more of an expansion instead of DLC. Honestly, that line can be pretty thin sometimes. Sometimes DLC is massive and worth it. Sometimes it sucks or should have been in the main game. Call it what you want really.

eta: Reddit reaction

CD project red- "Hey guys, the witcher 3 dlc will be free, were making a statement!"
A few months later "Hey guys, here are our first two dlc for the game, were also offering a season pass!"
This coupled with the delay of the linux port, the support for consoles, and the supposed graphical downgrade has worried me that the witcher has gotten too big and will be a bit of a let down.

"As CD PROJEKT RED, we strongly believe this is not the way it should work and, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we have decided to do it differently. Cutting to the chase, everyone who buys Wild Hunt will receive 16 specially prepared DLCs absolutely for free, regardless of platform. You don’t have to pre-order, you don’t have to buy any special edition to get them -- if you own a copy of Wild Hunt, they’re yours. This is our way of saying thank you for buying our game."

If it offers 30 hours of true gameplay for $30 that's still better play/hour than the $60 AAA games that give you 12 hours.

I hate devs that are already announcing NEW CONTENT FOR A PRICE, when they haven't even released the main fricking game yet! My opinion of CDPR took a hit today.

They should be putting more effort into Cyberpunk anyway.

16 pieces of unique cosmetic armor. 1 DLC per piece.

Done and done.
