Looking to go in July to see Biggio and need some tips on where to fly in to
Already have a hotel booked 45 minutes away
Was thinking of flying into Boston and seeing the Sox and driving over. Would that be feasible?
Any other suggestions are appreciated. Looking to do 3-4 days

Going to try and go next year before the Syracuse game.
Of all the people to go see you plan a trip to see......Craig Biggio.
To each his own though.

Beautiful area in summer. Take Mass Tpk to Albany. NY. Country side pretty

Only close options to fly into are Boston, laGuardia, Newark or Burlington (VT)or Manchester NH. If you call that close. About 4-5 hours from Boston to Cooperstown, probably 25% of that just getting out of Boston....
Cooperstown is in the middle of nowhere in farm country. More Holsteins than people in some towns. But so awesome in the summer. Not much else to do other than sight-seeing
The hall itself is awesome, lots of displays, kind of mind-blowing seeing all the old/famous stuff.
It will be packed obviously, so expect to walk around cooperstown, not drive. I went in May and it was crowded.....
Its definitely a must do for any sports fan and especially if you are fan of a particular player. I missed Nolan Ryans induction and could have gone -still kicking myself

Cooperstown in the spring/summer is fantastic. The Catskill mountains are amazing. The fresh air up there is like crack. Locals call it the Jewish Alps.
4 days in Cooperstown seems like a stretch though

Fly into Albany and make that your home base. Do a day trip to Cooperstown (about 1.5 hours away). One day is all you need there. Do a day or two in Manhattan (2 hour drive, or 2:20 minutes by amtrak--takes you into penn station). If you go in late July you can go up to Saratoga for opening day. You could also hit Boston which is 2.5 hours away from Albany. We lived in Albany for a while and it was nice that it was almost equidistant to NYC and Boston.

Yep. Been twice before but never for induction weekend. Last time we went in 2010 was the weekend after the induction.

I've been once- January 2009.
It was amazing- a dream come true.
Flew SW from NOLA to Albany and drove a rental car the rest of the way. There was snow everywhere and it was beautiful. Lake Otsego was frozen and there was of snow piled up everywhere. Saw a lot of deer running around at night. There was almost nobody at the hall- it was perfect- we did 2 days at the hall- one whole day and one half day. Stayed at the Holiday Inn- its almost like a resort- huge dining area with an enormous picture window looking out in to the snowy landscape. We also went to the Ommegang Brewery on the way back to Albany for a tour and tasting.

I've been a couple times. Once when I was younger and another time in high school. My Legion team got to play at Doubleday Field. It was quite an experience.

Went when I was 12 for the youth baseball tournament they host there back in 1999. Robyn Yount's nephew was on our team and we got into the VIP section up front to see Yount, Nolan Ryan, and George Brett get inducted. Amazing experience I will never forget.

Albany, unless you want to pay to fly to Binghamton. Syracuse is an option too. All are over 70 miles away.
I see you meant options for things to do, not where to fly. Watkins Glen area has wine tasting and is pretty with the Finger Lakes. The Albany area is shitty and there is nothing in Mass west of Boston unless you want to hike the AT.
ETA: Check that, from Boston, you could stop in Springfield, MA for the Basketball HOF. Hit 2 of the big 3 HOFs at once.

2 things
1. yes im going to see Biggio, among others. I saw him when I was 8 in the dome in 1989 and followed him until he retired. sue me
im thrilled to see everyone else.
2. im not spending 3-4 days in cooperstown. ceremony is sunday. going to go Saturday afternoon and tour the city and see the hall and then sunday see the introduction and leave that night. the first and last day will be in the city I arrive and depart from. that's why im thinking boston or NYC would be best

The city is really just one long street. At one end is the Hall and the Post Office. Along the way are memorabilia stores. There are a couple of bars on the side streets and the Foo Kin chinese restaurant.
The only other thing in the city is spending time on the lake, playing golf, getting authographs or watching the legends softball game. IF you can get a tee time for the course, you can probably run into players. In fact, you can find autograph hounds along the outskirts of the course.
Unless you are chasing autos and pictures, you can tour the city and go to induction on the same day. In fact, don't even wait for the bus to the induction site, just walk the 1.5 miles.

You should go to Cooperstown Dream Park to see some great youth baseball for a couple hours. Just seeing how nice the park is worth it.
