I'd recommend something with built in HRM. I know Fitbit has the Charge and the Surge.

Flex and Up24 both are pretty lame. Track "steps", but not accurately. If you mainly run, it's likely okay for a normal repetitive motion like that. But lifting or any other non-consistent arm swinging activity, it's inaccurate.

Check out Microsoft Band. That's what I have and I really like it. Syncs up with your phone with Microsoft Health app. Has continuous heart rate monitor, gps, tracks sleep, steps, calories. Has smart watch functions that allow you to sync your phone via Bluetooth and get alerts on your band when you get a call, text, email, fb status, etc. Has a touchscreen as well. Has a timer and alarm on it. Weather. UV sensor. Can upload preset workouts on it that will tell you exactly what to do on the band and count reps, etc. Ability to load up your starbucks card and pay for purchases at Starbucks with band. Just a very cool gadget.

Serious question: what are you using it for? Just tracking steps? Most phones have apps that do this for nothing.

If you're looking for something to track running/walking, buy a Garmin or Tom Tom sportwatch. Much more featured device that will give you realtime info as opposed to a one line display. Also probably about the same in price. You can get a Garmin Forerunner for around $130 on Amazon.

EDIT: Here You Go

My wife uses a bodymedia arm band. It works pretty god and seems to be the most accurate of the ones I and other friends have.

Not too sure as far as an app though. It can be worn on your upper arm, forearm and calf which is cool because its kind of out of sight on your calf.

I had one of those and liked it when I used it. Reason I got something else was that it didn't have a HRM on it and it was kinda bulky. I didn't wear it all the time like I wear my current band. Only time I don't wear current band is when I shower, if it's charging, or I'm dressed for a formal setting.

It does have an app that it pairs with and you can easily see your info on the app(I did like that).

The microsoft band looks pretty awesome. Looks similar to the Razr Nabu that I've been waiting for a while now.

I have the Polar M400. has the fit band tracking capability and is a GPS watch as well. think i paid $180 for it. I'd recommend going to DC Rainmakers site and read his reviews.
As far as bands are concerned... Taking your heart rate from your wrist isn't necessarily to best place to get it b/c its just not as accurate due to its proximity to the heart. So, if you are really interested in your heart rate get something that has a heart rate monitor that you strap to your chest. If you aren't willing to do that, then just get a band with a decent app.

Again, before you buy anything I'd go to DC Rainmaker's website and read his reviews. He does comprehensive real time reviews on all these products. I was about to buy a Garmin and went to his site to double check some things and the Polar M400 is a better product for less. Was a no brainer for me.
