Our number of wins will be determined by how far we go in the SEC tournament. If we enter the NCAA tournament with 8 losses overall, that means we're 24-7 in the regular season, 13-5 in the SEC, which would definitely be good enough to get in.

ETA: Or it means we go 23-8 in the regular season and win the SEC tournament. In which case, we don't have to worry at all.

so 12-6 in the SEC yeah that would be pretty good and probably get us in.

Yes 8 total losses after the SEC tournament should get LSU in the dance. Unfortunately LSU has 4 already with 13 SEC games left plus the SEC tournament.

This is why LSU needs to win the next two road games starting tomorrow. I think LSU really needs 5-1 over the next six games.

We won one of the tougher games on paper by beating Florida at their place. Kentucky is about the only game left that looks really scary, but unfortunately, this team can lose any game as well. Hopefully we figured something out in Gainesville.

I don't know... we'd only be 11-7 in the SEC, and that may not be enough. I'd say 23 wins would do it.

I understand it as 68 teams are selected to play in the tourney. We are on the bubble to be ranked, last I checked we were around 30ish (receiving votes to be ranked). By that standard, I would say we're in. But then, last year 4 SEC teams were invited to the tourney. I don't know how they'll choose them, I just hope they choose us!

Absolutely, Tennessee made it in with 10 losses overall and 8 SEC losses counting the SEC tournament last year and I think the SEC is stronger overall this year than last.

agree. with lsu's relatively unimpressive sos, that would be very, very close. the committee starts looking at good wins and bad losses which is not a conversation lsu wants to have.

I agree, on the surface I would say 11-7 would be good enough, given Tennessee made it in with that record last year.

However, the "bad loss" factor I think will loom large for us. And given our inconsistency thus far another bad loss would seem inevitable.

Of course 11-7 with an upset of Kentucky, I think likely pushes us across.

you could be right. @wva and @fla combined with ky or @ark should be enough to cancel out mizzou/a&m. hopefully clemson can stay in the top 100.

Don't pay attention to the polls (AP and Coaches). They are essentially meaningless.

RPI rankings; Conf W/L record and how many "good" wins (vs RPI top 50 teams) vs "bad" losses (vs RPI 100+) will be the determining factors. Srength of schedule is also important as well as a team's record away from home.

If LSU finishes the year with only 8 losses then they're in. That few losses means LSU would have had a very good SEC record.
