im thinking of spending some money on a new tv because I still use a 42 inch panasonic 720p, and cant decide on what to get. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good deals going on. I think ive narrowed it down to these 4 though

LG 55 Inch 1080 240 hz 3d led smart tv 899.99

vizio 55 in 4k led tv 999.99

vizio 50inch 4k led tv 240 hz 799.99

im not sure if i want to spend this much

samsung 55 inch 4k 120 hz curved led $1497.99

other than these i was thinking of just picking up a decent size 1080p for around 500 and waiting till next year for a 4k.

I trust you all more than the tech board and im going to play games on it

I always buy Samsung. Sony makes really good TVs for gaming. They always have the lowest input lag. I wouldn't bother with a 4k yet.

I just bought a 58" Sony and I like it.

Wasn't too pricey.

I have a Samsung F8500 plasma. Best TV I ever owned. Sucks for gaming though. The input lag is very noticeable on plasmas. Mine especially.

holy shite. literally just posted this in the Weekend Gaming Discussion thread:

quote:

Well boys, my trusty 2008 Samsung 46" LCD TV that i game on finally crapped out last night. Was mid-match of MVProof raping kids on MyPark NBA2K15.

Apparently that set of series of Samsungs back in 08-09 had power capacitor problems. They already paid to repair mine back in 2011, but the repairman told me back then it wouldn't last because the replacement parts were cheapo. I got 7 years out of it, so i guess I can accept it going up to Electronics Heaven.

Which begrudgingly is bad timing technology wise for ol Klarky, because I don't really want to go out and spend $2k+ on an early 4k TV. That's how i got in this position I am in now. I just want something decent to hold me over until i buy a house in the next 2 years. I'll buy something OT ballerish then.

This is what I'm looking at for the time being. MicroCenter has them for $750. Samsung 55" LED 1080p TV

I've read some reviews today and almost every review repeats the same opinions. It's a steal for the price as far as the picture and sound quality go, saying in those aspects it ranks up there with more expensive LED TV's with ease. But the Smart TV and Web built in features are laggy and disappointing, due to the mediocre CPU chip set. Which honestly, I don't much care about because I use my ROKU 2 or 3 (can't remember) for Netflix, HBOGO, Hulu, Youtube, and Plex already. Plus the Xbox One has all those apps as well.

Thoughts?

Size is completely dependent on the distance you sit from.

I agree that was just my personal preference. Just think huge TV's just are not the best for gaming from my experience.

That looks nice, I need to make the 4k jump eventually. Waiting before a streaming service offers 4k.

Mine doesn't lag that much.

50" Panasonic plasma is the best TV I have ever owned.

Incredible picture.

Plasmas are the shite.
