Is anyone worried how the Benson saga affects re-signing Davis?

Not that I think this is going to drag out, my gut says the courts will shoot this lawsuit down fairly quickly. But if they don't, I'm worried that Anthony Davis might say that there is too much instability and he'd rather play for a surer bet, with Chicago being at the top of the list. We're going to need to get him signed to the max sooner rather than later, thus the concern.

Unless he signed a new, long-term contract that I'm not finding on Google or on the NBA salary websites, we're going to have to re-sign him well before then.

Davis will sign his contract extension most likely on July 1st, 2015 for New Orleans regardless of the owner situation. I don't get why so many people are paranoid he is leaving as soon as possible. More info about this can be found here: LINK

Also, some extra info on this subject:

Getting a 'Rose Rule' max will likely mean a difference of 25-35 million over the course of his next 5-year contract.

While its more money, here is the good news: ONLY the Pels can give him that contract. Reason #25 its a lock he signs extension this summer.

Everyone seems to really like Gayle. I think she gives us a better chance at resigning AD compared to Rita, though I don't think we'll have an issue with the first resigning either way

Learning about Davis contract, or any of these stars signing their first max contract after their rookie deal, should be a prerequisite for posting on pels talk. Maybe you automatically see when you click the forum and have to agree that you read the thread and understand in order to continue. Or at least just make it a sticky. It seems like the money he would leave on the table by not resigning is discussed here almost every day.

Most NBA players could give a shite who the owner is as long as they don't pull a Donald Sterling or the owner ends up being the NBA. AD is going to be concerned about winning and money but it will all come back to the money in the end and N.O. is where he will get the most. He is also doing well in endorsements and exposure even though he is in the small market on a .500 team.

I can think of ~30million guranteed reasons why it won't.

I'm going out on a limb, but here's my bold prediction:

He will agree to a 5 year max extension that will ultimately pay him ~$125M. This will happen on July 1, 2015, also known as the first day it is available.

We really need a sticky that answers this question. Too many people don't understand the meaning behind restricted free agent

The casual fans must think we're crazy "OMG, how can they not be freaking out about AD? I must warn them!" It is a lot to take in though, I remember when I first got back into the NBA after about a 10 year post Jordan Era break, I thought everyone talking about trading for contract reasons rather than basketball reasons was nuts. Why would a guys contract possibly matter?
