Everything owned in community: Wife gets her half and usufruct over his half. Kids get naked ownership of Tom's half. Usufruct expires at Gayle's death.
Everything owned separately goes to the kids.
But as others have suggested, there's no way that there is no document in place or trust, etc at this time.
