I don't think their PR is that crafty. But if you were firing Monty today, a pic of AD smiling next to Interim Coach Randy Ayers would be a good thing to tweet.

Like I said, if they are going to make moves, I think it is at the All-Star break. That being said, I don't think they do a thing until the season is over.

I can't remember a Saints HC in the Benson era being fired Mid Season. Mora resigned midseason but was not officially fired.

Why are all of the coaching options college coaches or George Karl? There are a lot of good NBA assistant coaches who would love to be a head coach.

I agree dude. I don't see us going after a college coach but Everyone on this board is terrified of another assistant from our current experience.

This team needs a strong leader to come in and set the tone and command the respect of the players. Somebody who can give this team and identity. That's my biggest priority if I'm in the Pels FO.

What happens when we win Wednesday? His fire talk will descend?

barring a change in philosophy followed by a ten game win streak, there's nothing he can do to change the #firemonty narrative.

Yea but Bead Stevens didn't go to Butler. Hoiberg is Ames' favorite person. He grew up there and played high school/college sports there. It would be much tougher for him to leave.

I honestly think a game or two under 500 and he's gone. If losing to the Lakers means goodbye to monty and the interim coach pulling off a win steak during the homestead I'm all for it.

Yeah you're right but I don't know, maybe I think the NBA is a bigger pull than it is

His buyout for the NBA is $500k compared to $2 million if he goes to another college job. Either he has no interest in the NBA and they don't see it as a threat, or they don't want to stand in his way if the right opportunity comes along. I don't know much about him, so I don't know which it is, but the NBA buyout is significantly less for a reason.

The school would probably much rather lose him to an NBA gig rather than another coaching job, especially to a more attractive Big 12 spot.
