I have a feeling AD ain't mad.

I'm sure AD likes Cal just fine. The knock on Cal is failed first run in NBA and he's known more for superior recruiting than superior scheming. I just don't see how he's a top candidate.

One name that hasn't been mentioned that surprises me a bit is Mike Malone. Lots of people have wanted him for a few years and I haven't seen him mentioned in any of the threads. He got DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay to both get their acts together and play good basketball. He just parted ways with Minnesota today (apparently was doing some on the job interviewing with Flip), and he's reported to be Cleveland's top choice if they fire Blatt mid season.

Not a favorite of mine particularly. cal's job is to win championships, and get his players drafted. He's done both of those.

Would he win championships with lesser talent, idk?

I just don't agree that AD was underutilized. Maybe he wasn't the focal point of the offense, but they won a championship, and he was the first pick in the draft. Exactly what the plan was.

Eh. I don't know. Davis has grown a ton since then. He had trouble scoring over Withey in the title game.

Calipari gave them context. Guys had a role that fit their skills and that was a damn good team. Could Davis and others have done more? Sure, but Cal got them to buy into the team concept and his system. I don't think you can just negate that work entirely. That is a skill Monty hasn't really shown in 5 years.

I don't think he would ignore the 2015 Davis on offense. I also don't want him coaching the Pelicans.

Yep, let's go to the coach who underutilized AD in college

Um, he did what he was supposed to do. His job was not to groom AD to dominate the NBA, it was to win an NCAA Championship. He got an immensely talented kid to play a lesser role for the good of the team. Seems like a decent coaching job to me. AD played the perfect role on that UK team. That being said, I don't want Cal as the coach at all. Too big of an adjustment to not having the most talented team on the court for every damn game. I just think criticizing him for AD's role is silly. Dude won it all in Davis' one year.

Point being, the dribble drive offense is not suited to AD's strengths. Furthermore, it is extremely reliant on the 3. Our roster is not maximized in the dribble drive offense.
