From The Bird Writes.

If there is a time to make a move for the Pelicans, it is right now. 10 of the next 12 games are at home. The Pelicans will be on the road for just four days in the next month; January 22nd and 23rd (@ Minnesota on the 23rd), and February 5th and 6th (@ OKC on the 6th). The trade deadline is February 19th, just before the Pels first game after the All-Star Break, a short 30 days from now. If Monty Williams and/or Dell Demps are unlikely to survive this season then the time to go is now.

Moving now has drawbacks. Three specific college coaches (John Calipari, Fred Hoiberg, and Tony Bennett) are all busy. They will not come to the NBA during their season. It is not going to happen. The majority of front office candidates are currently employed by other teams as well. A move right now means a likely internal promotion both on the bench and in the GM's chair.

Just get it over with and fire him. If nothing else it sends a message to the players that management is not going to settle for this shite.

Check out the article. It's a rational point of view.

fire him now. George Karl is available. If he passes the go after Calipari once UK's season is over.

I don't want Karl, but he's a better coach than Cal. Neither of them are putting this team over the top, though.

Calipari probably wouldn't even be in this conversation if AD had gone to a different college. It's like Avery being qualified because he's local.

Yep, let's go to the coach who underutilized AD in college and failed as an NBA coach...

You left out that there were about 5 other pros on that team. There was only one ball.

Well George Karl is sitting around doing nothing sooo....yeah. Timing not an issue. And if they want to hire Dumars, fine. He's twittling his thumbs too.

I'm fully aware of who else was on that team. I think people who consider him a great coach are the ones missing that point. When he wins, he does so with extremely superior talent.

That said, he underutilized AD.

Agree with both. When did Calipari start becoming a fan favorite?

He got him drafted #1 overall and won a national championship with him. I have a feeling AD ain't mad.

Great read. Thanks for sharing. Should be noted the Kings also hired Malone before hiring their GM.

42 also has this thoughtful take on Monty and the other choices (GM, roster, etc) the Pels are facing
