Not quite sure what category this falls into, but I really like African tribal music with good percussion and vocal harmony. Paul Simon borrowed this style on his "Rhythm of the Saints" album.

Here's just one example: LINK And of course, we all remember this commercial: LINK ("Although it gives the impression of being a classical form of a song it is actually a mix of African-tribal and Celtic-style melodies.")

Any recommendations on other African Tribal groups?? TIA.

Not sure how tribal you are looking for, but check out Hugh Masekela, Letta Mbulu, and Batsumi. I've got some of their music on iTunes. All are (I believe) South African musicians.

They always had great African groups at Festival International in Lafayette. I haven't been in years but I imagine its still the same.

Tune Yards-Water Fountain is a modern take of African rhythms and call & response vocals.

Tune Yards - Gangsta

kALAHARI sURFERS is a south african group that does some tribal stuff. They also mix in some jazz, reggae and rock.

There are 2 main types there is the kalimba (it looks like that's what she is playing in the video with bela fleck) and the mbira. I bought an mbira about 10 years ago on ebay. Very cool instrument.
