I don't know if I am the only one that feels this way or not, but why would one sell one a gun just to buy another gun(or anything else you think is cool)? Why not just be patient, and save up for the whatever it is that you want?

The only way I'm selling one of my guns, is in some sort of emergency, and I need quick cash, and there is nothing else i could sell to get me out of that jam. The more the merrier, right?

ETA: With that being said, I am not opposed to buying used firearms; in fact, my favorite deer rifle, I bought used.

How many vehicles do you own? Sometimes people want different things and this is a free country.

Right on. I have before, but never sell guns anymore. You can never tell what will happen in the future and its better to have too many than not enough.

maybe if you'd really prefer to have a different gun, and you don't have the money to shell out for another gun without selling on of the old ones?

Not even close to the same thing as buying/selling firearms.

Because who wants to keep a muzzleloader in Louisiana. Sold mine and bought a 45-70. Best decision ever

Because you want another gun more but don't want to shell out to buy it.

because they want the new gun more than the old? because the old is not getting used? I don't get your take at all.

I've sold 4 guns. I sold them to buy upgraded guns.

Sold a sig sauer mosquito to buy one with a threaded barrel. Sold a Ruger 22/45 to buy a 22/45 lite. Sold a Savage .17 to buy a CZ 455. Last sold Remington 870 when I bought Extrema 2.

I'm in the camp of I don't buy guns to sell them.

The only gun I've ever sold was a S&W Sigma. Rize's dumbass bought it.

How you going to get a return on your recent shotgun investment if you don't sell it?

I'm hoping you purchased a Holland & Holland in Dallas.

As the OP said, I wouldn't sell unless absolutely necessary. Most of my guns have increased in value over what I paid. There may come a time when I need to sell, but it won't be to buy another gun.
I've only got about 4 that I regularly use, and many that just sit. If I could afford, I'd double my collection even if I never planned on shooting them. To each his own.

Not to be a dick, but is that where you stopped reading my post? Save up for a new one instead of selling one currently have. It's better to have one more gun than you need than wish you still had that one you sold.

No.

Why? The new one will do what the old one did.

Why would I want the old one after deciding to sell it for the new one?

Or just sell the one you have for the one you want more. If you decide you want the other gun too, buy it again.

To each their own. I for one am a fan of sticking behind a purchase I've made on a gun and never selling it as well... but guns are awesome and I don't blame someone from wanting to do what it took to get another one.

It would make for a much more well rounded gun experienced based knowledge set. :)

Also, that sounds like a subtle rich guy brag just fyi.

The only guns ive sold we ones I have had multiple of – going forward tho I doubt I sell/trade any as someone pointed out the prices are going up and living in the great white north we have been all over the map w registration etc in last 10 yrs and I doubt it gets better going forward ……. Plus we are getting down to guns that were my father’s an uncle or grandfather so there is sentimental value as well.

A couple yrs back my wife knew what I had now there are enough she has given up trying to keep track, just like me trying to keep up w/ her shoes/coats …. ;)
