Official CONCACAF 2018 World Cup Qualifying Thread

Draw for the first round happened early this week.
Round 1 Matches start in March.
A la Tahiti in the 2013 Confederations Cup, I think the soccer board should adopt a CONCACAF minnow... #TeamBelize for me.

I hate CONCACAF qualifying with a passion. The Hex is cool and the 3rd round can be somewhat tolerable.

I love WC qualifying. It is a gauntlet in a way. CONCACRAP reffing is the big wild card, which makes it entertaining. I love when USMNT holds down the fortress Columbus and listening to Mehican fans cry like the bitches they are.

I feel like the world cup should give every team an equal chance no matter how awful. The first 2 rounds are basically pointless and most of those countries only play 2 or 4 games.
I would favor a system that had all roughly 35 teams drawn into 6 groups not unlike the final hex we have now. Top 2 teams advance.
This would leave 12 teams remaining to be drawn to 3 groups of 4. What we have in round 3. Top 2 advance.
6 final teams go to the hex for 3.5 spots.

No. You completely missed the point.
Belize should have the same chance to qualify out of CONCACAF as USA and Mexico. They dont and will likely be eliminated before qualification begins for either in the 3rd round.

The smaller countries in CONCACAF have to play 2 extra rounds before USA and Mexico even begin.
San Marino and Andorra suck as bad as any CONCACAF team but they start off in group play with the better European teams.
South America has a 1 group round robin. Bolivia starts off in the same group with equal points as Brazil.

CONMEBOL had 9 teams trying to qualify for 2014.
CONCACAF had 35.

Europe has 50 something and CONCACAF has about 35 but no team in that confederation got a bye.
