i love me some Hex. No way do I want to see CONCACAF eschew that for a euro style qualifying. The euro qualifiers are quite boring to be honest.

I like the hex myself. I posted an alternative qualifying process that kept the hexagon as the final round. The first 2 rounds are an eyesore.

That is what happens when you're in the CONCACAF. Way too top heavy and the rest are shite.

Yeah it's top heavy but cheering for the USMNT I don't want an unfair advantage with a bye or double bye.

Then how do you do it without eliminating the Hex? It would be way too long of a qualifier if you keep the Hex and have all teams start at the same time. FMF and MLS will scream bloody murder.

The final hex and the round before are fine. It's just 16 total games over a 2 year span. The first couple of rounds would be scrapped.
Roughly 35 teams leaves a couple options.
1. Draw them into 6 different groups with the top 2 advancing. In 3 rounds it would be a hex, a 4 team group, then another hex. 26 total games in 4 years. It's not that impossible.
2. Have 12 smaller groups of 4. Only the group winners would advance to the next round. It would then be 3 groups of 4. Then the final hex. This would allow 19 games when the top groups already only play 16.

22 games instead of 16 for the second option but still completely workable.

The smaller countries in CONCACAF have to play 2 extra rounds before USA and Mexico even begin.
I'm pretty sure they don't play the same number of friendlies either, if any at all.

6 games is shite ton difference. Heck a WC winner plays 7 games. 22 games to qualify for WC?????? when the Euros play 12-14 depending on their standings. That won't fly.

My whore ex-girlfriend moved to the Cayman Islands recently so they can get fricked.

Whats wrong with all teams having the same chance to qualify? I'm not talking about the amount of spots each confederation has either.
if your MLS team's star gets hurt against British Virgin Islands, you'll understand

6 games over two years is nothing. It was not long ago all CONCACAF teams played a two leg against these teams. USMNT defeated Barbados a couple of cycles ago.
And for example star players do not usually play these games. A guy like Nick Rimando would be GK. We could have Guzan and Howard available for other WCQ. If mls teams can't spare a few players for a handful of games spread out over a couple years then the league is in trouble.
Injuries happen unfortunately. Under the current format a star player could get hurt in the 3rd round against the British Virgin islands just the same.
