I am sure this has been discussed before but the service quality I think changes.
Have any of you used both recently? Is there much difference in quality?

Verizon has a much better network in La IMO
I have Verizon but my parents both have ATT
At both of our somewhat rural camps, I have LTE and they can barely get a call in or out

I have heard several people say that. Thinking of switching.

I switched from AT&T to Verizon about 1.5 years ago and Verizon's service is much better imo.

Verizon better service in la. Have llutein more places. Verizon is more expensive and has more bs fees.
Att has way more dropped calls but has better plans and better selection of pphones imo.

I have had Verizon for many years and often go to rural places all over the country. Most of my buddies have ATT and I used to have way better coverage than them 80% of the time but the past two years I would say ATT has just as good if not better coverage. They are both close in rural coverage now and I would give ATT the slight edge.

However, with ATT, the ability to use data while on the phone is awesome. It's a HUGE pain in the as on my Verizon phone, esp being my work phone. (Trying to look up emails or directions or Google while on the phone with someone)
Is that a feature of the phone or the carrier??

Both phones & carriers. Long story shortened, Verizon is changing the way simultaneous voice & data are carried by using a single, 4G radio. Their term is "Advanced Calling" which also includes HD Voice to compatible devices and Video Calling integrated into the stock phone app. It will roll out in stages which started with the Droid Turbo last month.
