Very good movie, but the political bs is ridiculous. No wonder the Academy loves this movie.

Just finished it, 2nd half was kinda meh. It dragged on too long. Dude turned into an emo pussy.

There was some not so great acting (first drunk step-dad comes to mind), but it really flowed well for being filmed over such a long period. The main character definitely got worse as time went on. But it did have a sense a reality to it, like it felt like a normal broken family's story. I liked it. Wasn't as good as I expected, but I think it was good.

I thought it was a very good film. And if you notice, Ethan Hawke starts out as a liberal but is conservative by the end of the film. Just look at the family of the woman he married into.
